Jassy, that's freaking awful about the ST. That boy sounds like a proper arse. Your Avril's daughter certainly knows how to pick 'em by the sounds of things!! Where did she pick him up...pre evolution?! I trust he's being stuck with the bill?!?!

Well...at least September isn't too far away! Tailed a new black S3 out of Dundee. Yours will look far cooler in that money blue colour. However, my word they can get the power down. We were heading north out of Dundee and, at the final roundabout where it goes up again from 40 to the national speed limit, he absolutely booted it. I was in VXR mode and always enjoy booting it out of that roundabout but he went away from me at a reasonably alarming rate. However, I did stop accelerating around the speed limit...he didn't. They can certainly put the power down though!!

I've owned an Arden blue VXR and drove a S3 for 4,500 miles (12,000 miles on the clock) and the vxr doesn't pick up as well as the s3 but its grip around bends is superior and is imo the quicker car from a to b down non straight roads.

Which S3 do you refer to,the VXR is a cracking but l couldn't keep a VXR Gtc for the length of time l am hoping to keep the Audi for.

2012 sportback quattro. I buy/change cars upto 6 times per year (all types) so I thought I would add my two pennies worth. Owning a vxr isn't all honey joy - cleaning the windscreen also requires extremely long arms , doors extremely long and heavy, horrible mpg ( have produced better results with a gtr ) etc. But its biggest plus is that it grips and grips and then just when you feel its about to go, it grips some more. Both S3 and VXR get the thumbs up from me and imo superior to the st both to drive and to own. Sorry to read about your car/ people issues.

Re: Golf R

Don't understand the direction that VW is going in in terms of exterior styling. The previous model was much more differentiated from the GTi but now they look very similar and FAR too tame in my personal opinion.

I don't know if is just me, but as a teenager it was always my goal to have a Golf GTi, primarily because of their looks. Now they don't look ought special to me anymore. As plain as the majority of cars on the road

It's more under stated but I like that. When u see it beside a regular golf or GTI there's a noticeable difference.

I have to say that I just love 'em. I like the fact that they're not too lairy looking but go like sh!t off a shovel. When/if I grow up then it's definitely my current car's replacement. I advised Jen of as much and she went to her stock response of rolling her eyes to the heavens. I think that means I got a green light...right? :D

PS - it worries me slightly that I'm looking at your fuel consumption jealously...oh dear.

Yes me too. 17.2mpg is the best I get and has been sitting at that for the last year. Looking forward to something less thirsty when I change next August.

Park it up in any town centre ...... It won't get a second look. Looks just like every other golf / mid size hatchback out there.

Of course not everyone wants to stand out and some people are happy to blend in, but those people don't buy RCZs do they :eusa-think:

Just my opinion but I'll stick with RCZ thanks

Sorry, might be a capable machine but its absolutely non descript (.Files under yawn)

It's auto hold never need to use the electric hand brake. Put ur foot on the brake when u stop then take it of and the car will hold till u let the clutch out great for hill starts etc. plus if u stall which I don't ;) the car restarts it's self how smart. Even applied the hand brake ifs self when u remove da keys. :)

It rather depends on how spirited my driving is but Monday to Friday can see it as low as 19-21 mpg. It improves slightly when it gets to stretch its legs.

What's next for you then Derek? It's an M3 you have just now isn't it? Although these cars are a proper pain in...the bank account..they're wonderfully good fun. :D
