The dash of the R looks so much better than the S3, which dare i say looks pretty bland?
The golf stands out more from the golf range whereas the S3 looks like any other model in the A3 range.

Well Mick there's a surprise :sleeping-yellow: Have you even been in a S3 :eusa-think: far superior to any BMW interior and mac i dont drink and post mate,if l did i would be blacklisted forever.

Been there, seen it and done it with the rcz,l live in the real world, but what l dont like is when someone Posts= "Wrapper" knowing it will Provoke other members, it was was a stupid post backed up by nothing but zzzzz.. Mick's statement on the Audi S3 interior...thats even better   Bmw owner that's got the cheek to call another Marque bland...

The answer is actually yes when i had my A4 had 1 for the weekend , but whats the point of that remark?
This thread was about the golf r and the s3 so I was comparing the 2 against each other not a BMW so irrelevant really? It wasn't a statement it was an opinion so easy tiger!
Anyway ill be 3 series less at the end of Sept! The BMW is a company car and was chosen through limited choice and had already owned the other marques, the Z4 is mine but if you compare the interior of that to say a Boxster then the Boxster looks bland? I wouldn't say its the best interior in the world, but i bought the car for looks and it was cheap!I think the interior of your ST is better?
Like i said its an opinion.

I beg to differ. The A3/S3 interior is alright and better than the Golf in my opinion but it's the least appealing of all the Audi's bar the A1. A4/A5 A6/A7/A8 is far better and I doubt you've seen much of the new BMW's. M3/M4 and M5/M6 have caught up with Audi in a big way. I would struggle to agree that the A3/S3 interior is better than a well specced 3 series and it's on a par with the 1 series which is average as well.

The interior of my A5 was much nicer to look at than the inside of my M3 which is really quite dull but the new cars are a different story. All opinions differ of course but let's try to stay objective. Saying that your chosen car's interior (especially when it's a mid range model) is superior than the entire range of another manufacturer is a stretch.

Fellow Hamiltonian..lol i really have got to diverge from the Golf R thread...and guess what..? i disagree with ya...2 links to the cars 135i and S3 dashboards..even gave the beemer a larger photo

Ps. the way the Satnav slowly pops up/out is pure class,as are all the milled edge aluminium controls...
horses for courses as they say..but even then the A3'S interior is 18 months old now..not a fan of the A4'S/A5'S dashboards with the deepened dash displays

Re: Golf R

They look almost identical is you ask me, except the Audi one is "busier". The Audi one is the nicer but there's not much in it, but you said "any car in the BMW range"...

And how about this from Merc? Audi is no longer the king of the interiors that it used to be. It's stilll good but the others have caught up.

Had a few Audi's before my current car, which is my first ever BMW and I'm sorry to say that I doubt I'll go back to an Audi unless it's and old runabout. They don't call it the Ultimate Driving Machine for nothing...

Never had a Merc though who be interested in seeing what they're like...

Re: Golf R

The only thing that puts me off mercs is the weird camber when the wheels are turned. So only the inner edge of the tyre is on the road.

Isnt that the case for all cars depending on load and position?

Re: Golf R

Whatever you do, don't buy a Audi to track and I include all RS versions in that statement. But if you do find a very short track or be prepared to do a couple of laps followed by a section of a third without the use of brakes. Not good.

I've noticed this too! :D It's weird how this phenomenon is almost exclusive to MB. Haven't seen another car with that amount of camber anywhere else.

This is news to me if I'm honest. Why is that? Wonder if it happens in their new front wheel drive cars too? :eusa-think:

Re: Golf R

Those wheels do look stunning.

Jass at the moment having never owned an Audi your impressions are visual sometimes living with it is completely different?
Alloy buttons and dials dont do it for me and they are always cold to touch in the winter.

Now this BMW interior is pretty good?

I8..... :eusa-think: :) VERY Blade Runner like... and Mike, sometimes l wonder if i have done the right thing...choosing the Audi its very expensive even after the discount £34k :eusa-think: but there aint a lot of cars out there that i actually like at the moment...The new Focus ST is coming soon with a even better dashboard and fittings/new engine/better styling and a optional 8" satnav Sync2 screen but if i had specced a new ST the same as i have just now...that would be £30k no Fords worth that, unless its got RS after its model name,Focus RS 2016,HINT,HINT Rizz :)

Mac cracking car  but God Damn Naff quality photos  buy a good camera the wheels look ;)
but i hate the bridgestone Potenza tyres. Firstly introduced and made specifically for the Ferrari Enzo    but they wear away extremely quick very, very soft cracking grip though.

The S3 comes with Conti's  ,and i have requested a different tyre

 I am keeping my ear to the ground regarding the forthcoming RS Jass!! 8) You KNOW that's going to be a weapon. The last Focus RS is holding it's value unbelievably well (still around the £22k mark for a good example). I'll tell Jen that it is an investment! ;) I just hope that they come up with some better colours for it this time around otherwise it'd have to be white again for me!!

Nah mate, I think that you've chosen well. The only models that I'd have considered aside from the GTC VXR as the replacement for my RCZ would have been the two that you and Mac have plumped for. Personally I'd have still gone for the Golf but that's more down to personal taste than anything. Both cracking cars!
