From my recollection Chris, the metal connector is a strange unequal 5 sided shape, which as misterx said, has to be lined up correctly, pushed into place, and then twisted to lock. The problem is that the plastic cover obscures the metal connector, so you cannot see to line it up. This is why...

I have the black Sols & I used Autoglym sealant on them. Seems to help when it comes to washing the dirt off. They still get just as dirty, but it comes off easier. :eusa-think:
