So here's how I got on and the break down of costs.

Initial welcome very pleasant and took around 2 hours to carry out. Advised them of several issues that were niggling with the car; noise emanating from the exhaust which I cannot isolate but suspect a loose bracket or loose heat shield, mirrors not tilting to preset setting on engaging reverse and randomly lower themselves and are slow to respond to manually trying to raise them, noise from lock to lock on steering.

The car has to go back on the 25th-26th for further investigation of the exhaust problem because, "the mechanic has never seen an exhaust like yours" (feline exhaust) so reckons on needing the car for 5-6 hours. Why the blazes it'll take that long is beyond me and they didn't actually check the mirrors for the fault that I described (rather that the folded and unfolded which is not what I actually said was wrong with them) so will have to do that by plugging it in for diagnostics tests. I'll have to drop the car off the night before and pay for the use of a courtesy car for two days (£15 a day for the courtesy car) as I can't get out there and back in the same day on a work day and they're not open long enough in the servicing dept on a Saturday for them to carry out the tests. Also I have 5-6000 miles and then I'm going to have to replace the front brake discs at a cost of £316 + vat. Current mileage 15100 miles. Tried to tell me that the exhaust is only covered under warrant for 6-12 months but aren't sure which. I made the point that the exhaust was retro fitted at the request of Peugeot and so won't be picking up the tab for any work needed or any potential replacement costs. What a total freaking nonsense!!! We will see what the outcome of that is!!

Also, I know I'm a pedant but that's an exceptionally poorly written report of the work carried out!!

Hi mrizzle,
sorry to hear about your woes ,,which are to be expected due to the way those 'corporate' businesses prefer to woo customers with allegedly FREE tea or coffee and then load their prices to that of a five star hotel for that privilege! Due to the variety of positions in a dealership that don't actually have anything to do with the actual servicing of your car, its often difficult to get to speak with the poor mechanic/ technician who UNFAIRLY seems to stand on the lowest rungs of the ladder of importance even though its them that do the Actual Work! Lost In Translation is what often happens when the mechanic is directed to carry out the 'service' tasks as a priority and then only briefly informed about the niggles that you mentioned to the (have a nice day) service rep, hence your door mirrors and exhaust are then factored in to a return visit at your time and expense for another Free tea or coffee where they can allocate ,,did you say 5 -6 hour slot.

As for your brake discs in order to keep costs REALISTIC I personally would buy them myself and then simply have them fit the discs. On my previous Celica I replaced the discs all round, purchasing them from Euro Car Parts having opted for "Pagid" branded discs that are 'original fitment' for top end brands including Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Porsche, Mercedes, Audi, VW etc and their quality far exceeds those fitted to mid market manufacturers vehicles. They didn't tarnish, rust, and generally deteriorate at nowhere near the rate as those fitted as standard, even after over a year there is no surface rusting on either the disc rotor or the hub part of the disc. You save money AND get a far superior quality product trust me. Check out the price on Euro Car Parts .com they currently have greats savings on the rear discs!

.the big blue (Enough of the Back Bench being too sensible ,,kurbed wheels OR dealership rip offs I feel your pain AND frustrations) ! :greetings-wavingblue:

Aye the joys of motoring...these 2 years have flew past Matt  remember ye when you first came on the forum. New Kid on The Block.....and all that, yeah Big Blue is correct in saying to source better pads and all...i personally would purchase the stuff myself and source a small independant garage to carry out the work on your brakes mate,it would be cheaper :)

So...part two begins tomorrow. The squealing brakes is doing my head in and is mildly embarrassing. I think this will have to be tackled way ahead of the suggested 5/6000 miles!!

Thanks Donna!! No idea what awaits me. I've been absolutely slammed and haven't done anything about organising my own insurance. I'm hoping it's nothing smaller than a 208!!!

I'm just heading out with mine in the next 30 or so minutes. Don't look too closely at mine. The alloys have taken a serious doing and detailing has taken a backseat!! :( I'll see if I can see yours when I arrive.

Ok...didn't see yours but did see the white one owned by a chap called Ewan I assume. The courtesy car hadn't been returned but, to be fair, they pulled a Suzuki Swift off the lot for me instead. I had hoped to have a shotty of a 208 just because in interested to see what they're like and because Jen had shown a fleeting interest in then but sadly it was not to be. Driving back to Aberdeen in a 1.2 Suzuki Swift had me swiftly (boom boom) missing my RCZ!!! Hopefully the news is good regarding that!!

Oh...and the receptionist at Gillander's continues to be ace!! ;)
