Pointless filming the install as you couldn't get a camera into the engine bay hard enough getting your hand never mind a other with a camera in it :eusa-think:

As of Feb 2011, the European Commission ruled that all new cars and vans must have DRLs to make cars "more visible" to pedestrians and cyclists. The AA and UK government protested saying that it would add an average £68 to the average family's fuel bill but could not block it as the majority favoured the ruling. I'm not sure the legalities of it regarding them being in though. I've never seen it enforced at least.

Scott you can turn them on or off via your menu in the car. Some people like to have them on, others don't. I've always had mine set to be on since day one. One of them has just gone so not bad considering it's done over 17k miles.

The ruling only applies to new models of cars. For example when my husband bought his new Discovery a couple of months ago he thought it would come with DRLs but it doesn't because it is not a brand new model whereas the Evoque does because it's a new model/design.

Well my hubby has spent the last hour trying to fit these without joy. The plastic housing of the back of the lights gets in the way of being able to get the bulb into position - ie not enough room

Anyone got any answers? He's currently swearing like a trooper and saying "why can't you replace it with like for like. It's so much simpler".

I'm afraid that I don't really have a simple solution. I had a bit of a job with them when I fitted them as they are a tight fit. I took a break from it after 45 mins and tried again as I felt myself becoming a bit niggled by it. A break from it and applying a bit more force worked a treat. They require a good bit of manipulation but they will fit and they are quite robust so I wouldn't be too afraid to use a bit of force. Failing that, I imagine you could remove the reflector unit?

Well he's just had a G&T and is going for another assault on fitting the bulbs.
Fingers crossed. Hope he can see straight - or maybe that might help ;)

Well he's got the first one fitted BUT it stays on when I put my side lights and headlights on - is that right?

Yup. Mine do that. It actually looks ace when the car is lit up...provided you've upgraded the nasty yellow original lights to whiter ones!

That's ok then but yes they do look nasty against my yellow bulbs now:(
Hubby has said something ending in ...off ! :)

Hubby has patented a way to fit the bulbs in 2 minutes flat. Will tell you more later. :)
