Hot off the Press - Peugeot Main Dealer Timing Chain replacement £873.00
Not too bad I thought, but first I'll let the local garage have a go at fixing Rozie :eusa-think:
Hi Pete,
your points are noted. It's the rattling noise that troubles me and the unpredictability of the misfiring.
I normally drive my car very hard and she revs very willingly. I've noticed that the RAC warranty that came with the car is valid until 3rd August. However I don't hold any hope...
Hi Jules,
wow, that's really scary. There must be a parallel Universe somewhere.
Hi Iain,
I've bought a diagnostic unit but sadly it won't be delivered until tomorrow. I have to do a 10 mile journey to work tomorrow so I'm leaving it with the same garage that did work on it on Friday. I...
Hi Everybody.
I had my 156 minor serviced and MOTd by a non Peugeot dealer on Friday 12th July. The next day I was going to do a short 11 mile round trip, however, after about 1/3 mile I noticed the car was running a bit lumpy. Initially I thought it might be due to the four new brake pads and...
Holy Moley, that's really scary. Mine is from 03/2013 and well out of Peugeot warranty and done just 46K.
I do have a click4warranty policy that covers my car until July 2021. I'm crossing my fingers a lot. Thankfully my free NHS cover was able to cure the gangrene in my fingers
But...
I had something similar on 22nd June 19. I have an an old "MP3" CD which is occasionally failing to play. I was using the steering column stalk to try and play the next track. It didn't always work and she reverted to radio instead. Then all of a sudden I noticed the centre display was...
I sometimes get a "creak" from my 156's clutch, almost always when the engine's cold. I usually put my hands over my ears and pretend it isn't happening and that it'll go away.
This is what I think the problem is, especially with mine. I have read they are anodised, and it seems the corrosion is happening under this hard coat.
I know that sounds impossible, but I have tried various methods, even used Autosol with a buffing pad on a drill to try and remove the marks...
Actually "Tad" was the word I was going to use but "gnats cock" is much more fun. As it happens, it was three gnats cocks under £300, £294 to be precise. Maybe a "bluebottles cock" would have been more accurate.
The MOT was fine. I got a nice 308 courtesy car for free.
I did about 80 miles in...
DKZ, I have to say, I'm sure your car looks better now than when it was new.
I downloaded a copy to use as my wallpaper but it was no good. It's so shiny I can barely make out the icons on the screen! Sunglasses required, although I don't think the sun was even shining?
Re: Tire pressure monitoring sensors.
I just bought four brand new tyres for mine. The tyre dealer didn't mention the TPMS and as ever, they guessed what the pressures should be. Different fitters did different wheels. No alerts on the dash before or afterwards.
I checked the pressures at a...
Once again, many thanks to you all for your help and advice.
I'm quite chilled now and it's over to Richard Hardie in Durham to do a major 40K service and MOT on Friday.
They've told me that it'll be a gnats cock under £300. No other work permitting of course.
 to all.
Hot on the heels of my previous MOT/Lighting function question is this nightmare one.
My big yellow tyre inflater/puncture repair kit has on it ...
EXP: 05/2018
Will this be a fail? My car was registered in April 2013. This suggests to me that these devices are only good for five years. I...
Wow Chaps!! I'm overwhelmed by all the advice, and so quickly too.
Thanks, DKZ5745, stewartwillsher, RCZIain and neilgsxr69.
So my hunch that the bulbs were redundant was right. Also Iain, I had a horrible thought that both bulbs were blown or I had an impossible wiring fault to find. Mine is...
Hi all,
I'm doing basic checks ahead of my MOT which is due in two weeks.
My sidelights don't appear to work at all. When the stalk is on the single bulb setting (after auto) then no bulbs illuminate, just the DRLs. I can see very small bulbs in a housing which are the main beam bulbs. In the...
