Is the single CAM sensor not the VVT Solenoid. Top left corner of engine (beside timing chain tensioner) as your looking into the engine bay from front of car?
Hi Dave,
Remember you telling me about this. Didn't realise the VVT was the cam sensor 👍 What errors were you getting again re your VVT requiring you to change it? I'll get in touch when i'm gonna do either/both of these 👍
My issue is that my chain is quiet, no noise at all on cold startup. Think I'll proceed by replacing the cam & crank sensors and go from there 👍🏼
Having said that can you just pop out the tensioner and check to see if it's all stiffened up?
Yes, was thinking of replacing the tensioner as a matter of preventative maintenance anyways 👍🏼 Doesn't sound or feel like the chain so hopefully replacing the cam & crank sensors and the tensioner might sort this EML & P00016 code 👍🏼
Nope.. no chain noise on cold startup, idle is normal and car running fine. Error Code (P0016) clears after a while but repeatedly comes back again.
That's why I'm suspicious of it not being the chain/tensioner and possibly crank and/or cam sensors. I had this before on my old 406 Coupe.
If that's how you feel (the hose needs to be replaced on changing the HPFP) then why post an eBay link to a used HPFP hose above?
Also to say Pedro's "spouting" is misguided is nonsense... he is easily the first person I look to on this forum for advise or replies to my queries. Your way off...
Ok but if that's the case why do so many direct injection petrol engines have this problem of carbon deposits on the inlet valves that leads to issues necessitating them getting walnut blasted or cleaned in other ways?
This issue has been addressed by many car manufacturers adding a second...
Whether the oil is fresh and clean or dirty what gets collected in the catch can, I believe, is the 'blow by' (gases, oil & fuel) which is ventilated by the PCV and recirculated through the cold side of the turbo, on into the inter-cooler, and into the inlet manifold via the throttle body. Some...
I've ordered one and I'm going to fit it to my 156. Thing is I now believe you need to fit two... one on the vacuum side (left) of the engine and another on the boost side (right). I'll fit the boost side first then look to fit the vacuum side.
Here's the link to the one I ordered... it's...
Absolutely no problem mate. I've picked up a lot of knowledge over the years on Peugeot HDi engines and I'm happy to pass on what I can as it was passed on to me mainly over on the 406 Coupe Club Forum 👍
If you did happen to modify your car (EGR and/or DPF) and failed on emissions due to new tests looking for 'tampering' then good luck putting it right again. You've most likely disposed of your EGR and smashed out the DPF. Both cost a good few quid to replace
My 406 Coupe HDi never had emissions issues with the DPF removed... it flew through it's NCT (MOT) tests. Although this is more to do with what they test for in those emissions tests, don't think they test for Nox which, I believe, the DPF is there to reduce.
I 100% would not be removing the...
