So, those of you who have been on here a while will know that I have had my Z for @ 7 years, low mileage, but driven as it should be. In that time I have barely had any issues. It’s been fully serviced by PUG under a service contract.
In December 19 I had an EML & limp mode, so had 4 new coils & plugs fitted, been fine since, but has barely been used for the last 3 months, especially as we bought a Range Rover just a couple of days before lock down.

Last week, I took the Z for a run, don’t like it parked too long with no use, and I got another EML with limp mode.

It went in yesterday to Evans Halshaw Wakefield for its annual service, and they contacted me to say it needs a new High Pressure Fuel Pump.
I have an extended Peugeot Platinum warranty, so I knew it would be covered.

Here’s the interesting bit, they contacted the warranty people, and found out that Peugeout will cover the replacement, now unfortunately I was driving & the signal was cutting out, so I didn’t catch the reason behind this, just that they’re keeping the car until they get the part & fix it.

I will try to get to the bottom of it when I collect the car & update the thread, but it’s something to bear in mind if you have HPFP issues and no warranty.🤔

So, the on going saga of Evans Halshaw Wakefield and my RCZ.

They told me I mustn’t post this under any circumstances, but as I couldn’t work out why, I’m posting it anyway.

Peugeot have issued a “notice” that only applies to a certain code, which I couldn’t find out. If this code occurs, they will pay for the replacement HPFP, but not the labour charges for fitting. As I explained above, my warranty is covering that element of the repair.

Here’s the ridiculous bit. My car went in for the service & HPFP replacing on June 25th. THEY STILL DON’T EVEN HAVE THE PART!!!!
Apparently, they have checked the entire Peugeot system in the UK, and nobody has the part, so it’s now on back order, and I have to leave my car with them with no courtesy car because of COVID-19 until it’s fixed. So over 3 weeks so far.
I told them that I can source a new pump myself but they said if I did so, Peugeot wouldn’t pay for the part & the warranty wouldn’t cover the labour, so my hands are tied.

I will post the results, when I finally get my car back, but if anyone has any ideas I haven’t thought of, I’d be happy to hear them.

I think all you can do is to take your complaint as high as possible to the top of Peugeot. Someone on this forum might be able to help with contact details.

As I bleat on the HPFP is not fit for purpose; maybe I should feel lucky as mine was in the MD for 2 weeks last Summer, they had the pump just not the pipe which apparently needs changing too, given the amount of failures perhaps this was their inability to keep up with the demand. If they don't have the part I am unsure what complaining to the Ombudsman is going to do a MD is never going to fit customer supplied parts or 3rd Party non OE items, would think that is in the T&Cs of the warranty. Hope they can source the part soon, mine came from France in the end I think. Using Specialists for the last 16 years on my cars and venturing nowehere near a MD I was appalled at the service, comms, lack of parts, indifferent attitude, lack of information and being treated as if I was inacpable of understanding mechanical issues etc.

Pipe ? This is a bolt off & bolt on job so what pipe are they on about unless they broke the plastic circlip on the refit & are trying to get one ?
You could still report them for their incompetence it may not get anywhere but it shows your prepare to take a stand& they have a moral duty to Peugeot owners for customer care etc

I just realised I never got round to updating this thread.

So, they had the car for @ 5 weeks, serviced it & replaced the fuel rail & HPFP. The weird thing was I was just finishing composing a fairly long email to Peugeot customer services when Evans Halshaw called me on my mobile to say the car was ready to collect.
I couldn’t have a courtesy car all that time due to COVID-19 and the car couldn’t be valeted same reason. At least it’s now fixed, and I’ve given it the customary loud pedal test drive & it’s behaving flawlessly, in fact it might even be a bit better than before.
I had nothing to pay as it was all covered as described previously.
It took a long time, but I’m happy now 👍😁

Like this I believe Genuine High Pressure Fuel Pump Pipe Hose for PSA Citroen Peugeot 1.6 Petrol | eBay

Peugeot gave little of a toss when the car was in production let alone years later. They have no moral duty; as before it's all in the T&Cs of the Warranty Claim and Peugeot Warranty Scheme which DKZs was (as was mine).

That pipe once uncoupled only needs to be backed off an inch so that the union coupling is out of the housing then the pump is just taken out so have they made a F**** up by wrecking the part
Lots of DIY mechanics have changed these pumps on different variants with no problems whatsoever a few on here have including myself with the original pipes refitted so are they giving you a load of B*** ?

agree with Pedro. I changed the HPFP myself with absolutely no experience in this type of thing. I just needed to pull the pipe out a little to remove the unit and insert it in a little to the new unit.

It may be bollocks to you; your assumption they wrecked the part is alas like much you spout misguided but it needs to be changed as part of the HPFP at a main dealer and with a warranty claim.

5 weeks wait for a fuel pump! That’s scary but I’ve got a feeling it’s probably more to do with Evans Halshaw than Peugeot as this must be one of the most commonly fitted parts fitted to Peugeot/Citroen.

If that's how you feel (the hose needs to be replaced on changing the HPFP) then why post an eBay link to a used HPFP hose above?

Also to say Pedro's "spouting" is misguided is nonsense... he is easily the first person I look to on this forum for advise or replies to my queries. Your way off the mark here pal 👎

Calm down mate we are all here to help each other I stand by what I said in the post that pipe is not really a service part so does not need changing every time the pump comes off or the hoses are disconnected I will admit its a delicate job trying not to destroy it when removing the coupling but there is no need to take the whole pipe off so what has happened when they did the job on your car I think they either bent it out of shape or cross threaded the union reconnecting it into the housing

These parts have gone in my car too. Now I am replacing them 2 years later. I am exercising "statutory warranty". Why would this part need to be replaced in two years.
