Your first car...

Reading one of the threads tonight someone mentioned the RCZ they have on order will be their first car; that made me think of the first car I owned when I was 18... a 1983 1300cc Renault 5. It was a bit of an old banger but I loved that car. Fitted a new stereo, washed it every week, bought a Haynes manual so I could learn how to fix the odd fault. I don't think you ever forget your first car (in fact the reg was YGY 793Y - 18 years later I can still remember it!).

What about you guys.. what was your first car?

My first car was a red mini estate with the little doors that opened at the back and wood panelling. It needed a new bonnet which cost about £16 (that'll date me  ) and I sold the whole thing again for £40 and actually made a profit. Don't recall the number plate but it started a run of 3 more minis before progressing to hatchbacks. I've had a range of colours, mostly white or red so this will be my very first silver/grey one. :D

 I wish it was that simple !

No I was driving to work one morning and got distracted by a very attractive........................................................................................... car :!:
Straining to look at it in my mirrors, didn't notice the traffic in front of me had slowed / stopped :brickwall:

No-one was injured and it really wasn't as bad as I've made it sound but it would have cost more to repair than the car was worth :!:

God you lot are so young, my first car was a 1964 Triumph Courier Van in Cactus Green reg no 6483 EH, I brought it from the father inlaw for£30, it sayed in the family for 10 years after which it got scrapped - I wish I'd still got her as they are worth a bit now. After that I had a red Morris Marina 4 door. - Hey that's motoring for you

My first was a Hillman Imp in 1984. I remember having to 'double de-clutch' changing gears, and that the 'choke' was a lever near the gear stick!

My first car was also a Triumph. A 1972 GT6 in red. My girlfriend (now my wife) also had a triumph spitfire. Great cars, but a pain to keep on the road.

I've got a MKIV Spitfire in Yellow, I cut my teeth on the Courier hence the Spit - same chassis. She's in storage now fully rebuilt.

I saved and saved and saved through High School... Didnt go to the School Disco and EVEN refrained from doing the rebellious Vodka Fridays that the "yoof" seems to do so much these days.. and a month before I was 17 I bought this.

Mitsubishi Mirage Colt
1.6 16v SOHC with a heady 103Bhp.
