I'm currently listening to the two released albums from a company called Two Steps From Hell.

Not a metal band like the name suggests, they are a company that writes and produces custom music for movie trailers. Each album has about 20 tracks all around two to three minutes long that are what I can only describe as 'epic'. Drums, strings, choral voices, soaring movements, soothing harmonies etc.

Seriously, it's like I'm driving in a Bond trailer, or the tease for the next big blockbuster, or the most epic car commercial ever filmed.

The Albums are called Invincible and Archangel - http://www.twostepsfromhell.com/

The new Biffy Clyro album, "Opposites"...ALL week!! I've had a sneaky preview of the deluxe double album version and it's superb!! One of their most mature albums to date while retaining everything that makes them so absolutely awesome!!! Far too many great tracks to single them out. If you're buying it then spend the extra couple of quid on the deluxe version...you'd be daft not to. Cannot wait to see them again in March. 'Mon the Biffy'.

Seen the show several times and really enjoyed the film. Not sure that I would want to own the soundtrack it's not exactly Evita or Joseph is it?

I've got a bit of a soft spot for the Deftones. Haven't heard their latest album though. I reckon you might like the new Biffy album plenty of excellent guitar riffs. Not as heavy as some of the stuff that I know you like but I also remember you having quite eclectic tastes.

I've not seen Evita.

I know the lyrics for Joseph, my namesake musical, by heart. Unfortunately, due to my parents owning the Jason Donovan soundtrack and me listening to that when I was young it has made subsequent productions I've gone to see just not quite as good.

I've seen the film for Les Mis, not the musical yet. Overall the soundtrack is pretty good, but it does miss off a couple of songs which is frustrating when trying to follow the storyline. Also, Hugh Jackman's rendition of "Bring Him Home" although good, from a musical point of view is no match for Colm Wilkinson's one I 've heard on the 'Tube

Ok this week I'm listening to another GREAT GREAT Scottish band, Frightened Rabbit. Their songwriting is truly exquisite, emotive and visceral. The new album was released yesterday, Pedestrian Verse. I have tickets to see them at the end of the month so I'm hopeful that I manage to dodge hospital until after it!!

I believe that their current single is getting a lot of air play...and rightly so. However, I never listen to the radio so I can't be sure how many of you might have heard it. Anyway, the song is called "The Woodpile". It's ace!!

Radio 2 are clearly getting much more down with the kids then!! However, not a bad observation from you at all. They're a lot more folky than Biffy...and lyrically more depressing...in a good way.
