Hi all

I have a RCZ R. In need to replace both front Discs and to have my front calipars reconditioned.
I had a cost from the main Peugeot Dealer but as we know this is extremely expensive!

Anyone bought these from somewhere else? As i know its proving hard to find anyone else to supply!

kind regards
Darren

Re: RCZ R front discs and calipars

There is a firm who has just started doing a exchange reconditioned set of callipers with stainless pistons I believe at a cost of around £800.

Other companies are doing full replacement kits discs and callipers for between 1K-2K one is Pug1 off and another is K Sport.

Re: RCZ R front discs and calipars

I've been digging about again to source 3rd Party discs for the R at a more reasonable cost. I don't need them and probably not for some time with my limited mileage but as the car is covered by Warranty and will be until 10/11 year's of age the only other major cost is the front discs and pads.

Tarox look nice two piece for £850 +VAT
MTECH as previous posts say they are prepared to look a nachining a set in October
Godspeed are working on a set at the moment for availability in a few weeks
Leyland could provide a two piece set for circa £900

The K-Sport system includes
Two part discs,
8 pot pistons and calipers,
Braided hoses.
All for £1850.
Which when you consider the above posts, makes this a viable option for a complete system, which you can transfer to another vehicle by just buying the inner bell to fit new car.

Yes worth considering had a quick look on line and there are mixed reviews for various calipers sold; I would favour keeping the calipers oe and sourcing a set of compatible discs and pads as and when, fitting them myself or at a specialists.

Re: RCZ R front discs and calipars

Problem with the RCZ R calipers are that the pistons are made from mild steel and corrode over time, reducing their effectiveness.

I had my callipers replaced under the extended Pug warranty this January - 5 year old RCZ R. I had to pay for a new set of discs.

Cripes!

Were the piston's corroded/stuck in the calipers? Did you pick this up or on a service/MoT? (my discs and pads were replaced under a previous owner due to squealing etc)

Yes, corroded callipers picked up on the MoT. The standard Peugeot extended warranty clearly covers them as they are not a standard wear and tear item (unlike disks and pads).

That's another case of - thank god for the Peugeot Extended Warranty !!

Saved me a fortune when I got my discs replaced on the R for again squealing, but still cost £300 for the pads !!!

On the subject of rusting R mild steel pistons mine were picked up as beyond redemption during my recent annual service and MOT (it did pass the MOT though) so before it got to the stage of needing to replace the calipers I opted to get ss pistons made. Alcon, I discovered, are pinned down by a Peugeot exclusivity contract but are very helpful when phoned and put me onto BG Developments Ltd in Bromsgrove, who are run by a former director of Alcon. They had the R diameter pistons on the shelf (Ford Racing parts) and just had to shorten them slightly (I sent them one of each of my old ones as patterns so they have the R spec now). Cost incl VAT for 8x ss pistons came out at £252. Same procedure with the seal kit, which came from an official Alcon distributor (Performance Braking Ltd at Monmouth) and were marked up for a Ford Racing Puma and suitable for high temperatures and cost £108.

Although not OE Alcon, Godspeed do replacement SS pistons for the R:

Peugeot RCZ-R Stainless Steel Pistons - Godspeed @£160

Your seal kit was a good price.

I found a place in Germany selling OE discs and what with the exchange rate the discs were coming in at around £400 each, only to find that they will not ship to the UK. I wanted OE but will not be paying the stupid prices when mine need changing (they are on the second set as first were replaced under a warranty claim prior to my ownership) think I will go with Tarox.
