Newbie looking for an R

When you go to collect just have a good look round it, they give you plenty of time as you have bought of the internet, with my sons car they were spot on as they take pictures of all the marks, tbh we struggled with the naked eye to spot the imperfections, the car was everything they described and you can still reject at that point.
Make a list for yourself so you have a tick box, starting with the wheels and brakes!
They give you a 7 day trial with the car, the 250 mile limit is tight but I thought I'd try take it to a specialist if there's one in the S.E. London/Kent area, as a lot of the problematic items are excluded in the warranty as "works covered in the vehicle maintenance schedule".
I guess a compression test will cover valve guides and piston rings/bores, although carbon build up is excluded.

Unfortunately not in Kent area but I found Peugeot, Citroen Servicing and Repairs Specialist. to be very good. I don't have an R just a THP200. These guys do service a lot of RCZ.
Hope your R is a good one. Like the other guys have said, from the photos it looks decent.

They're closed today so I emailed them.
Have you heard of MKL Motors in Grays? They claim to be an RCZ specialist, but they list almost every manufacturer on their site.

Just a thought why not take to a Peugeot dealer?
What is you experience with Peugeot main dealers like?
When I took my car to my local Peugeot main dealer they didn't know what an R was. The younger technicians got the master technician out and he was also unaware.
They had very little experience of the RCZ as they were older and rarely repaired at main dealers.
The main dealer was unaware there was issues with the HPFP. I couldn't believe how clueless they were.
I have often found that main dealer garages have been poor, but I couldn't believe how bad my dealings with Peugeot garages have been.
A good specialist will have far better awareness and knowledge.

TBH Kerr in the early days not great, I use Peugeot Preston, they now know my car and me, they also know my expectations when I take my car in.
I set my stall out as per Flanners advice, walk round the car before service, pictures taken before underneath, (I know every inch and millimetre of my car now) yes I know I shouldn’t have to do that, but I think it’s hard to find a good indie for these cars.
I have a mate who is probably one of the best mechanics in the country, but he can’t provide me with that what I consider to be that vital continuing Peugeot history.
My car has every single service and parts receipt since new, including running in service and even the pre inspection receipt prior to delivery, reason why I will continue to use them.
Agree some dealers don’t know the R, but by going to a MD for a inspection I think it will carry more validation.

As you've done a good bit of looking around, would you think £7700 is a reasonable starting place for mine? I don't want to give it away but having decided to sell it, don't want it hanging around forever.
To be honest I didn't get far before getting the crazy idea of an R, but it looks a decent price for a top 200 GT Line to me, good luck.

The market for all cars at the moment is absolutely dire, It makes me very sad how cheap RCZs are, including some Rs, but for those wishing to hang on for many years, prices will climb, people on forums were telling me years ago my Monaro would finish up a 5k car, try buying one now for that.
Right now it seems you need to sell, sadly if that’s the case, there isn’t a queue to buy these cars including the R, but there will be in the coming years.
My next bills are coming up. More tyres and a wheel refurbishment.
I noticed Camskill have Michelin Pilot 4s at a very good price. Much cheaper than anywhere else. I had them before and they are very good. Continental Sport Contact 7 and Bridgestone Potenza Sport are the other tyres under consideration.

Have you had your wheels refurbished before?
That is going on for your 2nd or 3rd set since purchase? What mileage is your car on now?
They were refurbished when I bought the car. The dealer had just bought their own lathe to do in-house refurbishments. They applied the lacquer too thick and it chipped. They had to be refurbished again elsewhere. An unnecessary usage of refurbishment attempts.
I've got another refurbishment left, but I'm going to try something different to save that attempt.
I think it's the 5th set of fronts.
The first set were half way though their life when I bought the car. I'm at 75,000 miles now. My R is my daily and will continue to be. My mileage has gone up in the last 18 months after coronavirus and moving house.
The engine is running better than ever when it's getting used and warmed up every day.

Sorry to jump in on the topics guys, I’m sure you are all aware that some of the tyres sold online via cam skill and others retailers can be old stock, so the tyres although new can be 5 years old, but agreed the prices are good!
agree with Kerr about using the R regularly, my R has just clocked 76k and running sweet as a nut.
im also having my wheel’s refurbished soon, they don’t look like they have been done before, I may go the Falken route with tyres as I was quoted £110-£120 each.
The wheel shop has just done a full refurb on a 208 gti I had and they looked stunning (well for £300 all in), will get some photos up before and after refurbishing if anyone is interested.

I've never been supplied with old tyres. Popular tyre brands shouldn't be left sitting in stock. Online retailers like Camskill normally highlight if the tyre has an older DOT.
The Continental Sport Contact 7 and Bridgestone Potenza Sport are both reasonably new tyres to the market. They can't be 5 years old.
