Fight???????

RCZ's at dawn? ;)

Changing the subject completely what kind of music are you going to play when you go for your first run in the car? First thing I listened to was Alanis Morrisette cos I felt like I was a girl with attitude driving my beautiful Flash! I don't know what a 17 year old would be in to? Last concert I went to was Mark Ronson - next concert is KOL in December. You'll love the stereo in the RCZ promise!

Will listen to the Eagles on the way there - you have put the idea in my head. BTW was listening to Fleetwood Mac at work this afternoon :)

Hey, nothing wrong with Metal. That's the only type of music that will ever play in my RCZ and i'm nearly 48.

Play nicely please, I've cleaned up some of the posts as we don't want to offend any one, young or old. ;)

Well done boy, just enjoy the car you don't have to justify your parents actions to anyone on this site.
Just ensure the insurance is in your name, I'm sure your Mum and Dad are already aware.
Too many green-eyed-monsters out there :)

Hi hanson 17, I think that the RCZ is a very easy car to drive even for one who has recently passed the driving test, Just be careful of the width which can be deceptive. You may have read some of the other post and may also be aware that I was a Driving Instructor for many years and have been an active advanced driver since Jan 1987 when I passed my first advanced driving test. I would recommend that you join one of the many advanced driving groups that are in most large towns, and learn how to drive using the advanced methods. Your Instructor should have already taught you Advanced techniques but possibly without you being aware. Enjoy your new car but take it steady as one who is so young will be a very big target to the boys in blue. :greetings-wavingblue:

Out of interest...do Advanced Drivers still recommend 'passing the wheel'? At the recent Silverstone meet I asked one of the Peugeot guys (a rally driver) about it and he scoffed, pointing out that you've no idea which way the wheels are pointing! I think anyone that passed their test more than 1 year ago would agree with that.

Rally driving is a completely different kettle of fish though. How many rally drivers have you seen "passing the wheel"?
Its not the same as driving on the road in a more controlled environment.

That was by way of example ie an extreme. Do Advanced Drivers 'pass the wheel' then?

Hi Brooktop, the steering technique used in Advanced driving and “L” tuition is called the pull/push method of steering. When I was instructing in order to get the steering technique mastered I would find an empty car park and move the car off in first gear, running the car on tickover with both feet on the floor. The pupil would then steer in a figure of eight using full right and full left lock without removing the hands from off the steering wheel. The left hand remains on the left half of the wheel between 12 and 6 o’clock, and the right hand on the right half. At no point should the hands crossover, but are allowed to touch at 12 o’clock and at 6 o’clock. This method doesn’t take long to master and gives the driver more feel for the road and a smoother more accurate steering action. :greetings-wavingblue:
