I can try tomorrow to reinstall the maps and see if there's any change at all (for example the navigation running again).
Eventually will it help if I do a factory reset of the NG4 (any risks there)?

You can try to do a factory reset before reinstalling the maps.

OK, will try this one first and one question - will it reset itself to 42c version or older (I'm with the latest)?

Sadly - after the factory reset and re-installation of the maps / risk areas the situation is exactly the same - only main roads but at least the navigation itself is working and not stuck on the loading screen :)

Found a bit older maps from 2020, which are divided into west / east EU - will try with them a bit later, to see if there's any difference ( in my case I'll install the ones for East EU ).

In last case scenario, do you have a link, from where I can download the last official ones ( from 2019 I believe ) and try with them?

LINK - These are the 2020-2 version without Points of Interest.

(2020-2 version with POI from 2016 is this: 7.92 GB file on MEGA)

You can try either one.

I do not have access to the official updated maps - they were not from 2019, but from 2016 - that's why the latest POI are from 2016.

If anyone hasn't told you yet - you're a miracle :) Thanks and will give feedback after I try these.

Edit: I presume - procedure here is the same as with the other maps: engine running, FAT32 format etc.

Please do, I had no problems with my maps so any feedback is really welcome to add to the disclaimer on the first post. Best of luck.

Same issue with these again :( Feeling kinda lost :( However, Berlin has a very detailed map and I was able to guide to there, but in Eastern EU I see only the main road network

This is how my maps look.

I’ll check to get the Eastern Europe update maybe sourced out.

The Netherlands but Italian :)
I'm following your instructions but something is not clear:
At point 5 is written: 5. Extract the downloaded file and put all files into the ROOT of the USB/SD CARD
If I extract the downloaded file NG4-N42c.zip I have a folder named NG4-N42c
Inside NG4-N42c folder there is another folder with the same name NG4-N42c
Inside this second NG4-N42c there is another folder HEADUNIT and a file HBUPDATE.DEF
Inside the folder HEADUNIT there are 14 folders and 3 files.
So, what do you mean with "put all files into the ROOT of the USB/SD CARD"?

This is the version of my NG4
NG4.jpg
I think it is the original one from 2010  o_O🤣
Nothing wrong with the GPS that indicate -10m ... I live in the Netherlands 🤣

You need to put these two: HEADUNIT and a file HBUPDATE.DEF in the root of the USB, and then insert the USB in the port (on running engine) and voala :)

Deleted it, update of maps took about 30 minutes while driving, and software - about 15 minutes. All is fine and running smoothly - big thanks!
One thing thou - Bluetooth of the NG4 doesn't support audio streaming, right - only phone calls?
As you asked about BT streaming. This is my DIY solution + the two charging ports (its just a really small car charger, that lets me close the lid with it inside). The long RCA to AUX (3m) cable was around 2,5€ and the BT receiver was 1,5€ over Aliexpress and AUX to AUX 90degree adapter was 1,5€. The cable is run under the plastic mid-console.

Since the car starts supplying electricity to the USB port, the BT receiver connects to my phone automatically and most of the time before the NG4 turns on when switching on the car - so its basically seamless audio playback. The BT receiver also turns off 30seconds after the car is locked.

I tried finding the maps, but even the last official update at my dealer, has West and East Europe combined.

I've no idea, what else can be done - except factory reset, new FW update and new installation of Maps and Radars.

Basically I got the latest FW, so that's OK - don't know why I can't get it to work for East Europe but I'll try with the BMW maps for East EU, just will share a screen, as there's a difference in the files, and I need advise there, but this on Monday.

EDIT: This is the link I'll use: The Pirate Bay - The galaxy's most resilient bittorrent site - bit older, but worth the try

OK, so with these maps it worked - 2019 as year, all streets etc. are visible, which confirms my theory and the one, listed in the torrent, that the BMW maps are divided and by default you have full coverage on West EU and only main network on East EU ( NF7 - I presume, that's why it's all fine with you ). Navigation, guidance, POI etc. are working now, and before I install them - will there be any issue with the Risk Areas that are in the beginning of the topic, having in mind, that I have different maps? Or I can safely install them?

EDIT: I found out, that I cannot search via street / house number, which is kind of frustrating, but at least it works. Any idea, if there's a link with the newest maps, but divided the way it's on the link I gave ( separate folder for the East EU, which are to be overwritten in the West EU so that I have only East EU )? If not - I'll go with these :)

Thanks for the update. Glad the East Europe maps worked out for you.

Regarding the Radars POI, I believe they are the EU POI so Bulgaria should be covered.

But always, its your own risk. I cannot try it myself.

Would you be able to zip the maps (while preserving map directory structure) so I can update the first post with additional maps for Eastern Europe?

Sure, will do it and give you a link. Riska areas work.

EDIT: Here's the link with the .zip with the East EU Maps: 2018-03 East EU.rar
