Which? magazine has just published an article on extended warranties.
Their conclusion is that you're better off putting the annual fee in an account then drawing on that if something happens.
Average annual repair costs accross the Pug range is £154 but a warranty will set you back £500+
With so many exclusions in 3rd party warranties it can be difficult to make a claim.
Extending the manufacturer warranty tends not to have the same exclusions and could be worth it, especially since they compare well on price to 3rd party warranties, Ford and Skoda are even cheaper, not sure about Peugeot though.

Yup, next year for me will be £299 definetly cheaper than 3rd party..

Which? is a good magazine but the annual repair cost of £150 "across the range" is way off the mark. Cant really think of anytime ive had a car into the garage for a "repair" and been £150 :lol:

At that sort of money I'll be investing in a peugeot warranty myself.
The dealer said they'd contact me nearer the time about extending so I'll see what they come up with.

I've had repair bills at 150quid and below on my old car but envisage them being higher on the rcz
I know that Which? Just average it out, someone with just a 15quid switch needed will bring down the average

New sensor fitted, the one with the new wiring harness, not the housing.
They say they've had 100% success with them, they checked the rest or the car over and said everything else is tip top, and that my oily custard is just condensation from low mileage.

I've not checked the Peugeot warranty price yet though, I forgot to ask in all the excitement of getting my car back lol

Hi, my little baby is just starting to show these same dreaded symptoms. Yesterday, just starting to kick down to climb a hill, futt futt, judder, then limp home. Today, drove it quietly and gently to Stafford to be checked over. Supposedly repaired (coil - whatever that means) so went to pick it up and first opportunity to go faster (ie above 30 mph only around the town of Stafford) and on the dual carriageway, what does it do, but 2 judders and back to limp mode, making all sorts of growls and fan running on after stopping. Plus spent over £30.00 on taxi fares today back and forth. Back home, no car!!

Fed up and not trusting the wee beast now.

Don't think it is a bad batch of fuel. This is far more serious and our fuel is consistent in this country plus I do use v high octane occasionally.

Ok, bad bmw engine!! How dare this 6 time world engine of the year winner give problems. You dont even know what a coil is but you know for sure that your ignition system wont be affected by fuel from "this country" :thumbup: Top work! And if you use high octane occasionally, what do you use the rest of the time? Did you request a certificate from your petrol station where you got the fuel from to confirm maximum water content and guaranteed octane rating?

Why are you so rude? I get my petrol from a petrol station like any normal person. I do not pick fights with other people. Nor am I patronising and rude. I have a car with a serious fault like other people on this forum have had. It is worrying and I need my car as my only form of transport. I suggest if you cannot make helpful comments you make none. Incidentally, to the rude person, the garage has phoned and it has a fault, nothing to do with petrol. So go get a life.

That was not aimed at you, it was the previous person. The car had a new ignition coil, put the problem remained as soon as you accelerated. Today it was the spark plugs apparently so she has had a new set. To be fair she has just purred back home with a few bursts of high revs and acceleration just to test it. So far so good, but this forum shows a whole host of sagas relating to this problem so I will not fully relax just yet!

What is your problem? Your sarcasm is pathetic. I am a trained scientist not a mechanic. When the car plays up it goes to the garage. Clearly for your problems you need to see a trained professional, draw your own conclusions in what speciality. You are a bitter and twisted person. Sad.

I give you advice, and still you know better? Were you looking for an answer that suits you? Why did you come here to ask if you knew what was wrong? As a scientist, you should know the difference between treating a cause and a symptom. I am married to a scientist with a PhD in Medical Virology and she is just as stubborn as you.

Sincerely, I apologise for being so crast with you. I am however giving you real advice and even though it seems like an improbable cause, it is real. I've got a thread here somewhere that explains it all in laymans terms. Go have a browse around, there is a wealth if knowledge around this topic.

Hi , well after getting the timing chain tensioner replaced at peugeot garage in November , at my expense as 7 days after warranty ran out , my wife won't drive it I give it a blast now and again ,a week ago well out for a thrash I stopped car , returned started car and engine fault Appeared , it turned over a few times before it would start but drives ok , light staying on , I took it to my local garage first last week , put on diagnostic and it said it was timing issue , they changed the sensor but still the same , was told it has something to do with the work peugeot did on timing , I have now dropped car off at peugeot and told them to get it fixed and I'm not willing to pay , it's only covered 600miles since they did the repair ( which should have been recalled in the first place ) , will find out pater in week , wish I had never bought the thing and kept her suzuki swift sport , this is the only car I have had problems with , haho
