Changing the DLR / sidelight to LED

Slightly disconcerting final bullet point and disclaimer about them not being road legal. Encountered any problems Jassy? Excuse my ignorance but these don't require a converter kit then? Straight swap?

had them on my last car honda type R gt they are even better in the rcz due to larger headlamp unit deflectors  the reason they say they are not road legal is because they give of a bluey white light to the road surface thats it they are straight swap bulb for bulb and keep your oem bulbs for the winter months which is 10 months out of 12 in eberdeen

Chuckle...you're not wrong about that!! Why do you suggest changing them again in winter though? (Apologies for this degree of bulb related ignorance!)

if you really want the HID effect you will not find a better H7 bulb than the phillips diamond vision but when the roads are black with salt :( they not that great at giving road surface reflection i fitted my mother golf gti with these bulbs with just 80% extra light and are a great all year round bulb the 100% bulbs give a greater light on all road surfaces in all conditions

They look like a good alternative. Right..last question (probably) and sorry to be a pain but do you know if they'd work in tandem (I guess i am being shallow here but I mean in terms of the producing a similar degree of brightness and colour of light) with the sidelights that you recommended?

Bowing down before you and your wealth of knowledge about this topic.

Re: Changing the DLR / sidelight to LED

Rizzo  go for the 100% extreme-vision bulbs they give off a great white light in all road conditions and will still match your led sidelights/drls

Thinking of replacing my blown LEDs with this http://www.aliexpress.com/product-f...D-Super-Led-brake-tail-light-wholesalers.html

450 lumens, now that should be bright :)

They look good but heavy in weight just like these ones i have fitted before http://www.hids4u.co.uk/led-stop-tail-bulbs/ and are bugger to fit

The stop tail bulb is the easy one, the DRL replacement to 92 canbus is the bugger.

Right 2 white 380 Ultimate Canbus 92 SMD LED Bulbs ordered and one set of H7 Philips X-treme Vision +100% Headlight Bulbs (pair) ordered. Probably won't be telling the missus about this one as i'm not really in the good books for spanking money on the iPad v3 this week too...

I found the X-treme vision didn't match the 380's so I put those in our 308 ... What you really need is the 380's with the Phillips Diamond Vision... They look amazing :)

Hmmmm...not match how? My concern with the diamond visions are that they aren't road legal and jassy mentioned that they aren't great in winter. I live in Aberdeen (for most winters think Narnia) so gonna try the X-tremes and hope for the best. Glad you are loving the diamiond visions though! Did you find changing the bulbs tricky?

Re: Changing the DLR / sidelight to LED

The xtreme vision is not as white as the 380's so they look quite yellow. I do a 50 mile round trip to work each day on the M6 which is lit and the M56 which isn't and find the diamond vision do a good job on the unlit motorway. As regards to being legal I've not had a problem ... I've been behind police, gone past police and they seem fine with them... I think in this day and age with all the different shades of bulbs in new and old cars they don't bother.
Fitting the 380's was a pain but with patience and a bit of manipulation it's well worth doing.
:-D

Re: Changing the DLR / sidelight to LED

Diamond vision throw a blue light on to the road surface not white [HENCE NOT ROAD LEGAL IN THE UK]and in winter night driving conditions they are  to say the least :( but are great in summer months the phillips 80% extreme are white i fitted them on a golf like i said and give a crisp white light in comparison to the oem's in the golf the 100% extreme-vision are even better whiter and for a high vision bulb cant be beat that said the diamond vision are a hid effect stylist bulb style over vision and cant be beaten for the xenon effect my led drls dont exactly match the diamond visions either but i hate yellow bulbs and i was not going to wait 3 months for a rcz with the vision pack on it i couldnt needed a car asap,

The h7 bulbs are ok to fit rizzo once you have mastered one side the other side is easier to fit. Best thing to do is fit both the led drl and h7 on one side only then turn the ignition on to compare the new bulbs with existing peugeot oem bulbs, also a tip switch the engine ON before puting the led drl into the headlamp casing to test the bulb is functioning correctly.

Well in my job I have to have a colour blind test and pass it every time .... The extreme vision defiantly gave off a yellow light and didn't match the 380's at all.... The diamond vision give out a much whiter light with a slight hint of blue depending on what angle you look at them.... I've even compared them with my mates BMW with Xenons and there's not much difference in the light on the road and the hint of blue.

Re: Changing the DLR / sidelight to LED

They give off a blue light full stop and thats illegal in the uk, its not the shade of blue from any angle view i was talking about its the road light they project as for your mates beeemer the xenons in it must be a few years old if they aint better than diamond vision :eusa-think: only new bmw 2011-2012 with built in drls are of 5000k-6000k in colour tempreture and are far,far better than diamond vision,i have had 3 cars with diamond vision in them just purely for aesthetics and its the same every winter or at night in heavy rain they are useless. This winter i will change them over to 100% extreme vision just so i can see :wtf:  rizzo send them back and get the diamond vision but coming into winter time get yourself a good set of high vision bulbs as i know what the road are like up in aberdeen
