I've tried the eject button reset, thanks. Didn't seem to do anything.
I've tried a factory reset as well, no dice.
I'll try a bsi reset. Maybe that will give me a window to stick a USB drive or DVD in and see if it does anything.

Have you tried to update from the SD slot on the device?
That is what I always use. I believe it also is the fastest option.
A ha, nice thought. I'll see if I've got a big enough SD card :)

On a side note. Drove it back home yesterday. Kings Lyn to Grimsby and it was lovely. Actually comfier seats than my old 508 GT. No back ache when we got home.

Bit of an update.
After pressing 135 and rebooting it, then doing a factory reset I can get it to see a usb stick and SD card for the update.
Next problem is it says keep engine running, then show the progress bar then immediately goes black and does nothing..

Update of an update.
Got it to start updating, after it going black for about 15 minutes!, using a CD. Which works for about 20 mins then stops at 67%.
Then it reboots and reports error 3019 internal error.

Maybe if I wait long enough the USB pen will update it. I left it over 30 mins earlier with the stick in and nothing, but the fact the CD started the process has given me some hope

Does it stop and shows this message right after you put in the 2nd DVD into the drive and continue?

Its a firmware update from USB. Gets to about 69/70%, reboots and shows this error.

Sounds like it's rebooting early, before it's finished loading up the new firmware. It might end up being a dealer job :eusa-think:

But wait, even if you update via USB there are always two images to be put on car's HD. So it shouldn't stop after the first image and reboot. It'd ask you for the second image (no matter if on the same USB drive or a separate one)

I don't want to speak it out loudly but I hope the HD is not shot.

EDIT: make sure your copies are proper. I had big issues with some copies I got from "the web". At the end I just purchased the DVD and all was good from there.

Is this different from what it said before you started?

Just had a look at the photo Chris (Tianorth) posted & the covers of those discs show SW N42b (42.01) so I guess that answers your question.

I read a post from RCZ R earlier in this thread that said don't be fooled by the e13 error message, just re do the update & it should be fine.
Have you tried re-doing the update after you received your error message (I know it wasn't e13, but still worth a shot).

I'm pretty sure the firmware was 40/41 before hand. I'm just copying the maps to disc and going to try them later.
A good excuse to go for a drive

Well the drive and mcflurry were good, but
The maps won't update via the USB.
And I haven't got any DVDs big enough to try it that way!

Didn't neilgsxr69 say he had some discs you could use? You could pm him & see exactly what he has & give them a try.

I'll do it now
It can't be the hard drive failed can it? Surely the whole unit would refuse to work?
