It could be many things:
- clogged intakes in the manifold
- timing chain worn out/stretched
- turbo waste gate leaking
- fuel injectors clogged
I had this too on my R and the culprit was a leaky waste gate.
I wouldn't worry so much about the viscosity of 0W30 but about the fact of doing regular oil changes on the RCZ's engine. Like Pedro mentioned here, change the oil more frequently as advised in the service bulletin. THIS is the key to less issues with RCZ's engine. And if it "drinks" some oil...
I know a company which installs those/similar systems on beemers, audis and similar. The effect is really striking. Even on a stinkin diesel the sound is very impressive. You can change the sound instantaneously via app on handy. And even modulate the sound, like on a sound mixer while listening...
Cheers to Sweden!
Don't you guys up there have those electric heaters built into the engine's cooler which you plug into the wall socket during night time? Keeps the coolant warm and thus easies up the start up in very low temps.
Nice idea!
Based on how many laps you are going to do, take a spare set of brake pads with you. I only have been twice to a smaller race track on my R but could spot a significant brake pads wear while doing hot laps.
No, never. The German service held to the statement, the oil does not need to be changed over the course of R ownership.
Looks like they have changed their mind since then. I put some stress on that gearbox during my ownership. All those 155 MPH runs, the long & high speed trips, few trips to...
A certain inertia moment on the crankshaft is of benefit for a smooth operation of the engine and the gearbox. The synchros have less "to do" when bridging lower speed differences between the gear changes. This adds to a smoother driving and less wear on the drivetrain components.
But yes, it...
I always wonder how much of an impact a lightened flywheel has on the crankshaft bearings.
I mean, by swapping the flywheel for a lighter one you take away some weight on one side of the crankshaft. And that weight was calculated into the load on those bearings from the very start.
I can confirm about the bypass valve issue on the R engine.
I had those issues on my R aswell. I was able to adjust that valve a bit while I had the exhaust header unmounted. But that didn't fix the issue permanently. At very high engine load over longer period it got leaky. So it had to be...
Good to hear she is back on the road.
As a side question, are the prices at work shops comparable between Slovenia and e.g. Croatia? Is Croatia much cheaper for labour costs?
Ha ha, I can cope with what you described here. Each time I went with my R to the Alps it was a blast. And yes, you can play with other more powerful cars, if you got the skills. Just on the brakes alone you can out run a lot of other cars.
