Yeh there doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason a battery coming to the end of its life will definitely bring it in more often but mine comes and goes and that’s with a recent new battery you just get used to it and eventually ignore 👍

On the MK1 it is a double filament sidelight bulb which doubles up as the DRL’s but they don’t last long before they fail so they may have just blown replace with a duel cambus error free led

Hi yes you’ll still pass an mot I have a car back custom exhaust with centre resonator delete and custom back box with quad carbon fibre tips, it sounds really nice not too loud but a nice deep burble on tickover and no problems with the mot I’ve also got a remap which boosts the overall package.👍

If the cars running sweet and doesn’t sound like a diesel from cold you should be good with the timing kit as long as you use good quality oil and keep an eye on the dipstick and don’t let it drop from max. Chains should last up to 100k but failing tensioners usually put a stop to reaching those...
It’s something that has come up recently and to be honest I haven’t really noticed but I suppose if you scrutinise then yeh it’s common but I don’t think it detracts from the car at all
I had my 156 remapped about 4-5 years ago absolutely transforms the car and I’ve had no issues at all just stage 1 and extra fuel economy too! Totally win win.
And allegedly a remapped 156 is quicker off the mark than a standard 200 due to gear ratio and the difference in turbo boost.👍🏻
