That is not normal. Many causes when engine hot and at idle with a rev, but these two spring to mind: the valve stem seals, or the turbo charger oil seals etc I would also consider changing your choice of mechanic.

Pump and Coil pack 3 replaced and all is good again. They have identified that the aux belt idler/tensioner (not sure which/or if combined) is making a noise (I thought it was the clutch) so have apparently ordered a new one to be fitted.
