thanks Chris.

Just emailed back my nearest dealer with a screenshot of the schedule asking if is not necessary to add passenger compartment filter, brake fluid and spark plugs as recommended by Peugeot.

I´ve done 15000km since last service 15 months ago and they just quoted me for oil Ineo 0w30, oil filter and usual checks!? Price:155,56 eur

The other dealer I´ve contacted quoted me for oil, oil filter, brake fluid and spark plugs 265eur.

The difference here is 100 euro, which in my opinion is a bargain.

Now not wanting to sound to harsh but you shouldn't expect to buy a Thoroughbred Racehorse and put it on the same diet as a donkey. You won't get the performance for long and eventually it will die. Now put that Philosophy into practice with a RCZ R then it will eventually fail and cost far more to put right than the small amount it should have cost in intermediary maintenance. Just plain false economy. In short if you don't service the car as per Peugeot recommends, then you will not get back the best from the car and probably void any warranty. There are clear defined reasons for the service schedule as it is, and the RCZ engine does not like being neglected in terms of right oils and maintenance.
I can't understand the influx of cost cutting on an expensive car as the R - just my opinion written out loud so to speak.

My Service and MOT today ( passed no advisories and all in the green ) cost £403.50 but fingers crossed that's going to keep it in tip top condition until this time next year. So in the long run £400 to keep a RCZ R on the road for a year is not a lot in the scheme of things is it?

Cheers M.

I´m not trying to save money, not my intention at all.

What I wanted to know is which of the two dealers were giving me the correct quotation and I´m not happy discovering that the closer one is not including important parts on their quotation, that´s why I´ve send them the pdf with the service schedule from Peugeot.

I want them to explain me why those 3 parts were not included in the quotation when they are needed.

The second dealer is 1000km away (north of Spain) were I was born and the one I´m interested in is on the south, where I am living now.

It's not a case of doing things cheaply, it's getting value for money and getting the job done correctly.

I have marked up my spark plugs & coil packs with the cylinder number and reg, to make sure they changed them and I also asked for them back (to use next year)! Also marked up the air filter.

Some of the Pug dealers even don't know about the requirement to change the gearbox oil in the RCZ R every other 12.500 miles as well (means during the yearly service).

It would seem then that even the Peugeot dealers need educating then.

In that case RCZ-R mine would need doing very soon, if you have done this procedure, what is needed ie plug washer / oil / quantity
many thanks.

Chris I'm all for value for money, that's why I say mine must be gold plated or something - for it to be so expensive.
And at some point you have to put a bit of faith in the garage servicing your car, the garage already thinks I'm anal because I left a note saying about the jacking points!
I did ask for my spark plugs back but more in case I need one for a quick fault, and they are the cleanest burning spark plugs I have seen, so would probably have been ok left. I hate taking the car to the garage when it's got no faults and drives impeccably because I always seem to inherit a noise here or a noise there - think I'm getting paranoid.

I read this thread wrong and for that I apologise if I have offended anyone.

I read this wrong Sergio and can see where you are coming from it is a big difference and is it because they are missing vital parts out of the service? - apologies if offended.

I booked in for my service next week. Major service £257. Was told they usually do a major service every 2 years and a minor the years between. The service history log I have from previous owner would suggest this has been the case from new.

Docksey007

Was this from a Pug dealer and what is included, it is either very good value compared to my price or they are not doing the same?

Cheers.

I requested it to be done on my R at about 50.000 miles from new. So I didn't get my hands dirty. Can't tell you how much oil you need.
Back then the dealer did not want to perform this service saying, that gearbox fill is a lifetime fill. Maybe this is what they have been told by 2013 as the R came on the market. But now they know this gearbox requires frequent oil changes due to high operating temperatures and the LSD.

I cannot find anything on the yearly/12500 mile service.

This is what they are supposed to change.

Pug told me they have changed it with the 308 GTi. Means, they introduced those gearbox oil changes on the 308 GTi first. Thny it should have been applied to RCZ R as well. My pug dealer didn't know about it either.

No, I got no 308 GTi in my garage
And most probably I won't. They are going to put a particle filter on the 308 GTi now. This will suck the life out of this engine

So am I right in thinking even though you can type your reg and select the dealer you want in the online Peugeot Service booking page it fails to take into account it is an R, so therefore an R cannot be booked online/on the fixed price service?

I guess the only option is to phone around the local dealers to obtain the best price for an R service checking with them what should/will be replaced. Or I use a trusted VAT registered Mini Specialist to undertake the service for me, but I have Extended Warranty....could that be a problem in event of another warranty claim? All items would be documented and Peugeot/PSA supplied.

I had no problem working out a service plan with my local Pug garage, but in the end I didn't take it up. I prefer to pay what's due on the day rather than add another monthly bill onto my already increasing expenditure.
My R came up on the system and then they went through it to take bits off due to the low miles used and the fact I have a lifetime air filter - always remember to tell them if you have a K&N or similar because believe me it will end up in the bin.

Cheers M....

Booked my R in and having the oil, oil filter and plugs done for circa £280, only 2.5K miles since a full service when car was supplied by main dealer to previous owner; and I changed the oil when I bought her (1K ago). I will replace the cabin filter myself as the cost for the Dealer to supply and fit is a joke, air filter not needed as fitted a 'performance' one. All purely for the stamp and keeping the Warranty intact as the car will be mostly laid up over Winter in a heated garage. :(
