There’s a R on autotrader with off road suspension fitted! i wonder what the hells going on with that one,
on a positive note it’s priced on the cheap side, could Be a bargain for someone good with the spanner’s
I don’t experience much torque steer on my R to be honest, agree that the brakes are superb, best thing about it though is the smile it puts on your face when driving it
Agreed, if your spark plugs and coils are good then, HPFP seems to be showing early signs of failure, if you haven’t had it refurbished or replaced, stands a good chance.
usually if the timing is out you would get timing codes eg p0016 stored.
have you access to a decent fault code reader that...
Hi mate, I would change your spark plugs first of all, I’ve had it with numerous Mini Cooper s, same engine, they run fine until you floor the throttle and it can misfire badly, worth a try first of all.
it doesn’t always throw up the engine management light but may have codes stored in the system, yes the thermostat is inside the housing and is a complete unit.
Yes classic sign of your thermostat stuck open, will only warm up when idling, had one on a Peugeot 208 gti (same engine) last month with exactly the same symptom, make sure the cooling system is bleed correctly as well.
Didn’t mean to joke about it but it seems you have a pup! these cars aren’t particularly difficult to repair and get running properly, and when they are running properly they are nice to drive whichever variant you have.
agreed you have had a nightmare with it.
Done a few times on Mini Cooper s, same turbo charged engine, disconnect ignition coils remove 1 spark plug at a time and screw in the compression tester, crank engine a few times and note down the reading, repeat with each cylinder, good luck with it.
Sorry to jump in on the topics guys, I’m sure you are all aware that some of the tyres sold online via cam skill and others retailers can be old stock, so the tyres although new can be 5 years old, but agreed the prices are good!
agree with Kerr about using the R regularly, my R has just...
Yes mate, same thing happened to mine, loss of some functions and miles changed to kms. Ejection noise every 10 seconds or so, the head unit needs repairing, common issue apparently, I sent mine off for repair, hope that helps
Hi mate, don’t want to be negative but that R looks like it could have been a track day school car, suspiciously low mileage, worn brakes and semi slick tyres, perhaps lowered slightly as well.
i May be totally wrong so apologies if I am, good luck!
Hi Ian, no you don’t but you have to remove the engine mounting so a trolley jack is required to steady the engine, also a good quality brand of timing tools are required to lock the engine correctly.
Yes can confirm it’s insurance group 42 which is very reasonable considering M cars, amg’s Audi rs are all group 49.
maybe because it’s so rare and don’t get stolen!
Yes classic sign of hpfp failing, it’s on its way out, yes they look shiny and new, it’s the coating on the exterior,
as already said remove it and send it off for refurb.
my personal opinion on that particular R, is don’t walk away from it, RUN away, I wouldn’t touch it as you have been advised, blue smoke at mot time is a massive red flag, there are others available, you will thank us in the long run!!
good luck.
According to how many left there are 273 R’s left either taxed or sorned so yes you will have travel to find one.
timing chain kits are about £150-£200 to buy and garages are going to charge 5-6 hours labour +vat.
these Cars are now 10 years old and you probably won’t find one in a main...
