Well guys just an update, got a torch and mirror down to the tensioner and found the engine hoist bracket was loose and rattling about. Hope after tightening that’s cured the rattle. Looks as though it has the upgraded tensioner due to the different bolt head.
Hi guys, a mate has a rcz 156bhp which has a slight rattle when cold on start up, the noise disappears shortly after, no fault codes or engine management lights are on. It pulls well and drives as it should.
my question is can you replace the tensioner bolt without having to lock the crankshaft...
Hi guys will have a 2014 rcz 1.6 petrol GT 156bhp with 61000 miles in Opal White coming up for sale soon if anyone is looking, it’s having the wheels refurbished tomorrow, will get some photos up asap. Full spec heated electric black leather, Sat Nav, front and rear parking sensors, full mot...
Ouch, I feel your pain with that big bill coming all at once, at least you know all the main jobs have been done and you can enjoy the r.
most of the potential buyers looking for a low mileage example will no doubt have most of these jobs to still to be done and could be in for a big shock!
Hi Daf, usually a chain that has worn will stretch slightly the timing will be out and throw up the engine management light, the plastic chain guides can break and the chain will rattle. If the Car you are looking at is quiet on cold start up and runs well all good. You could always go back for...
Hi, from my experience the timing chain would probably have been done at that mileage, as you say it’s got a full service history but if there isn’t a receipt for the chain I would factor in about £750 for the chain if/when the time comes, if everything else is a positive, could be a good buy...
sounds very Like the high pressure fuel pump is failing rather than failed, very common issue, I’ve had 5 or 6 rebuilt by a guy called Mike on eBay, from Winsford Cheshire, all sales cars and never had a problem afterwards, same day turn around also.
hope that helps.
just going to ring the trader and the advert has disappeared, another way round it I’ve been told is to export it to N. Ireland, then import it again and the cat N disappears, apparently that used to be the case, that’s why a decent HPi check will search to see if it’s been exported to NI.
Brakes fluctuating come mot time usually means the discs are goosed In my experienc, Add to the fact the pistons in the calipers could be partially seized it starts getting expensive
If it’s the same car, it’s not showing as cat N, it will do usually after a logbook change, someone might be in for a shock!
i did a HPi check on a car last week which was cat n 3 years ago and it only went on the register March 2023.
I think they are decent value compared to bmw, Audis and the like, quite fancied another M3 but they are at least 2 1/2 times the price I paid for my r, so that’s cracking value in my book! Anyone thinking of buying one, they are awesome machines, go for it!
Blimey!! When I was looking a couple of weeks ago there were only 7 or 8 on autotrader, it seems the more expensive ones don’t seem to sell quickly though
Yes, I agree, some of the comments were said tongue in cheek, and of course I bought it because I wanted i, it’s certainly different which to me is half the appeal, im giving it a service tomorrow including rear discs and pads which were surprisingly cheap!
hi all, I’ve recently bought a rcz r and I’m surprised by the initial comments from friends, family and neighbour’s,
these comments so far are:
1. You must be having a mid life crisis.
2. Have you changed your career and become a hairdresser.
3. It looks like you have driven through a...
