Pedro, No need to keep it to yourself. I value your knowledge and experience but I'm sure you understand and agree that before spending hundreds or even thousands of pounds do your research.
Using the excuse "it must be true because it says so on the Internet" is not a valid defence.
btw, according to Service box its a 30 min job. Refilling and bleeding the cooling system is also required but I'm sure someones done a "HowTo" on here.
A session with a proper Diagnostic machine would be an idea. It may cost £50 but its a better start than the clowns you just used. They "don't deal with wiring" but they are sure that the wiring is at fault.

My 406 Coupe did 250,00 miles before it passed away.
Assuming it was a very early RCZ that must mean an average of 20,000 miles a year. Thats a lot for a Petrol engine !
Pretty sure thats not a standard Peugeot fitting.
Is it some type of alarm that triggers when the door is opened. If thats a metal plate on the sill it could be some type of contact breaker.
Take the air filter out and try again (but do not run the engine for any length of time without it)
Check that there is fuel in the tank.
Give the battery a charge (or try a jump start).
These are the 2 volume buttons, the pivot point is right in the depths of the handle so a bit of deconruction is required.
