What's it like owning an RCZ?

Hi all

I'm picking up an all-black RCZ GT on Wednesday. Gorgeous car. Gone for one a couple of years old - personally I prefer the look of the grille on the older model.
I've wanted an RCZ ever since I test drove one two years ago. I fell in love with it then and have finally plucked up the courage (and finance) to get one.
So just how good is owning one? ...

Same as me. Saw one had to have one, finally got one and loved owning them ever since. A brilliant car to own and to drive.

Welcome to the forum

The RCZ is a great car to drive especially on twisty country roads. It stays almost flat through corners - an absolute dream :) .... Don't like mine much ..... ;)

Thanks all

Engine is 1.6. Found it to be more than punchy enough.
Have driven lots of nice cars and written press reviews for many years. Safe to say my RCZ review was the easiest and most enjoyable to write.

Do you want a unbiased opinion :eusa-think: Well here you go The 1.6 thp 156bhp engine is very noisy on idle,no doubt the 197 bhp is as well :eusa-think: sounds like a diesel engine, the temp sensor goes in most the petrol cars..ie this needs renewed, the tyres are extremely expensive to replace at around say £250 a tyre, the interior is bland, the leather seats ripple almost instantly from new,the power folding door mirrors creek in operation"most owners have had them replaced under warranty, some alloy wheels corrode ie the black solstice alloys in particular, the standard GT 156 HAS A EXTREMELY LARGE STEERING WHEEL  which SHOULD be changed ASAP to the smaller sports steering wheel, road noise is quite loud..due the lack of insulation and of course them very large 19" ALLOY WHEELS.

The paint quality is very good in general, although the high gloss black roof needs carefull maintenance when cleaning, standard GT alloys are very good and easily maintained, non vision pack..ie halogen headlamp cars need the bulbs upgraded as the aesthetics of the light given off are very yellow indeed.

The in car standard stereo is a peach  the drivers position never really suited me, not enough support from the flat seats"I am quite thin", the clutch engages gear tooo high on the pedal, the gearbox is nice and promotes spirited driving, its a very wide car and difficult in the beginning to get used to,its got some nice kit my fave being the dipping door mirrors when reverse gear is engaged  Heating/auto climate control are great, heated seats never really used them.

White any white is the best colour, but all rcz look great as for the bumpered rcz, is it better looking :eusa-think: thats debatable :eusa-think:

I OWNED A RCZ for 2 years almost it was great in general but i just didnt fall in love with the car, it was just a short lived infatuation...just me though others swear by it

the temp sensor goes in most the petrol cars..ie this needs renewed - Most? Crazy stats you got there, please share your source
the tyres are extremely expensive to replace at around say £250 a tyre - Yes, tire manufacturers are out to get Peugeot owners
the interior is bland - Guess they should glue a tacky boost gauge to the dash to liven it up a bit
the leather seats ripple almost instantly from new, Mine is 1 year old and perfect
the power folding door mirrors creek in operation"most owners have had them replaced under warranty Most owners statement again, mine is perfect
the standard GT 156 HAS A EXTREMELY LARGE STEERING WHEEL  No one forced you to buy the 156
road noise is quite loud..due the lack of insulation Utter nonsense
and of course them very large 19" ALLOY WHEELS. ....i dont event know how to respond to that
The paint quality is very good in general, although the high gloss black roof needs carefull maintenance when cleaning yeah, because if you clean only half, it would look funny
standard GT alloys are very good and easily maintained, non vision pack..ie halogen headlamp cars need the bulbs upgraded as the aesthetics of the light given off are very yellow indeed. as they are...
the drivers position never really suited me, not enough support from the flat seats"I am quite thin", Pillow?
I OWNED A RCZ for 2 years almost it was great in general but i just didnt fall in love with the car, - Turns out you more a Ford kinda guy... explains most of the above

Some very good points there

You will be treated with an exceptional ownership experience if you treat the THP with the loving care it deserves. The motor has won so many World Engine of the Year awards I lost count. Having said that you will need to treat it with respect.

The car is very comfortable for a GT Coupe, has super sharp turn in with progressive understeer only right at the limit. The engine screams to 6800rpm and drivers are rewarded with some nice intake trickery at that goosebump rpm range.

Interior is a nice place to be with minimal engine and wind noise but some tire noise is evident when pushing on a bit (inherent nature of 35 spec 19's)

After 1 year of ownership I still smiley everytime I get in the car.

She is not perfect but for the money you are paying, its hard to better. GL and HF!
