Arghhh still no car, they found another problem the pistons on the callipers are rotten. Just ordered a set of Godspeed with seals 🤪 looks like gigantic bill is coming and that’s no exaggeration ☹️
There easy enough to do at home to be fair even then it’s a dear old job but we’ll worth it

All jobs done on the car now and it all came to a £5 ;)
New pistons from Godspeed
New front OE discs and Kevlar pad
New OE timing chain kit
New OE Clutch fitted
Fault diagnosed and fixed
New OE thermostat housing
Full Service
SO basically everything has now been sorted and it should last at least another 65K miles
Only kidding about the price. Means I have no money for the next 2 months .

Ouch, I feel your pain with that big bill coming all at once, at least you know all the main jobs have been done and you can enjoy the r.
most of the potential buyers looking for a low mileage example will no doubt have most of these jobs to still to be done and could be in for a big shock!

Yes didn’t realise I get stung with that all at once. It was low mileage when I got it but using it as a daily is costly. But I think most people on here with an R have deep pockets. I would avoid running a car like the R on tight budget.

The front brakes is the big one. The cost of the front brake discs, pads and caliper issues is big.

Timing chains are a common issue and this engine is in the Mini, petrol RCZ and various other Peugeots. A lot of cars face the same issue and cost.

Clutches and DMF issues happen in all cars and often down to the driver.

Very true with the brakes, just now waiting for my calipers to be replaced by Peugeot under warranty, both sides seized on the inner side.

Once done I can complete my brake refresh which I always expected to do, as said think you do need deep pockets with the R but to me no more than any other performance car.

Timing chain will be around £800 depending on the garage hourly rate.

Genuine discs are about £750 for Peugeot Parts direct.

EBC Yellowstuff pads are £120.

The other issue you will face is the pistons in the brake calipers will have corroded and the pistons will need replaced with new stainless pistons and seals. That's about £300 for the parts. Labour to fit discs, pads and caliper rebuild around £150-200.

I'm not sure what a new clutch is to replace. It could be very costly if you need the DMF replaced as well.

I hope your specialist is nice to you. It's going to be a huge bill with everything at once.
Hello Kerr,
I’ve just bought the “R” version, 65000 miles, 2014.
Can you tell me the names of companies who can supply spares?
Are spare’s difficult to get hold of?
thanks
Clive

Welcome along.

What parts are you needing?

I've had mine for 4 years now and I've got everything I've needed.

Some parts have come direct from Peugeot dealers. Fish Brothers run Peugeot parts direct and they are the place for front brake discs. There are very few options when it comes to front discs. We spend lots of time talking about the front brakes on here.

Spark plugs were an issue before as few people sold them. They are expensive direct from Peugeot. Euro car parts now have them, but they are cheaper buying from Autodoc.

Tell me about it with front brakes, only just got mine back from Peugeot, the caliper situation has been a nightmare to sort with the dealer, waiting times have been stupid and my calipers had to come from different sources, hence one at a time, therefore although I have new calipers the paint finish is different.

Moving forward I think I need to stock parts whenever I can to avoid problems, also really disappointed with the treatment and service I have received from the dealer, simply the worst experience ever from a garage in my lifetime.

I bought the GODSPEED stainless steel pistons which are in mine now, so wont have the rust problem anymore. Didnt have them repainted though. Something I might do later dowm the line. Also bought the kevlar pads from godspeed and they seem ok so far.

Hoping that my new skoda will arrive shortly so the R can just be my fun car . Have roughly about a month or so to go before it turns up. That will be the work horse.

Rightly so, the R really is that special drive for me, now back, am looking forward to the 5 am drives when the roads are quit for maximum enjoyment.

Am sure though the Skoda will be a good drive for every day.

That's poor.

The replacement calipers on my car have a different finish to the original calipers. They are matching.

To say I am gutted is an understatement, dealer not interested, everything has been a uphill battle.

Godspeed made a few sets of bells to suit the discs they supply. They stopped supplying them quickly for some reason. They still do 308 GTI discs. They might have measurments and drawings. They might have access to a program to manufacturer them.

Getting a bespoke set of bells machined from scratch won't be cheap.

Definitely won't be cheap, unless you know someone.

Think I am in the minority, I actually prefer the look of the OEM discs to anything with bells, even though there probably more practical, also cost wise I don't think the price is too bad for the OEM discs given what they are quality wise.

Hi
I also have a RCZ R 72k miles. The car drives fine but I have the error code p000b after a track day. I topped up the oil and the code went a away for a while then came back. Cant see any leaks. Iv ordered a camshaft position sensor to change out the old one on the exhaust side.
Did any others that had the p000b code notice any performance issues or noises? is the code related to the chain needing to be replaced?
