Ron if your Mcafee was a free anti virus check that is has not expired.
Be careful what sites you visit and what you download.
I was pulling my hair out trying to sort my Firewall out, but I was making things worse by downloading, what I though was genuine Windows software to solve the problem, when they wasnt.
I couldnt even get on this site without pop ups for all sorts of crap, I was getting page after page of adverts and nonsense.
Again if you are running Windows, try looking for Windows updates, sometimes installing updates corrects little problems. Windows updates should be in your computer as a default.
You will also need to check if your core Firewall software is installed and running ok in "services" on your computer.
Without this no Firewall will run.
It's easy to do, go to your search box at the bottom where you open your programms, type in "services" for windows 7, or services.msc for other windows.
A box will open up showing all your computers services, scroll down to see if
Base Filtering Engine &
Windows Firewall Service is started or running automatically, both of these need to be installed and on automatically, if you cant see them then you have the same problem I had, they've been deleted, if they are there but not started or not selected to turn on automatically, then just select them to start automatically.
This all sounds complicated Ron, but its not honest.
ps.
Windows Firewall Service &
Base Filtering Engine in "services" need to be installed & running automatically
no matter what Firewall you are using.
The virus I had deleted these 2 services, hence a Firewall could not run.
I would say that if you can see these 2 services and they are turned on automatically, your problem is with the Mcafee sofware.
But you need to check these 2 things first to elimate a problem in your operating system.
Theres lots of links on Google about Mcafee Firewall not running or turning itself off, it seems to be a common issue with Mcafee. :eusa-think:
Ron,
All of the above and previous thread is presumming you are running Windows and not a Mac.
PPs.
Stay away from Dirty Granny sites until you sort this out .
