Bit late now but I want one next year.

Jassy those lights are so different why did they even go to the bother of fitting em and not just order a new one. Surely a total waste of the garages time or are they happy to take ford uk's money for the warranty work knowing full well they'll have to do it again and get paid twice truly shocking state of affairs any wonder it's called rip of Britain.

I need help again. My McAfee security thingy is playing up. It keeps turning off "real time scanning" I keep getting popups to tell me that it is not working. I have tried for the past two days to fix it and failed. I do not understand the instructions that I have been given which doesn't help. I will paste those instructions below and see if any kind person can translate them into idiot proof language for me.

Enable Real-Time Scanning and the Firewall in McAfee SecurityCenter
Double-click the M icon in your taskbar.
Click Navigation and select Real-Time Scanning.
Click Turn On.
Click Navigation and select Firewall.
Click Turn On.
Return to the main SecurityCenter page and verify that Real-Time Scanning and the Firewall remain on.
Close McAfee SecurityCenter.
If your status still shows that you are not protected, continue.

Is it just the one firewall you have Ron?
I'm no expert mate but I've recently had the same problem as you, not with Mcafee, but with my Firewall getting turned off and then totally being removed !!

My Firewall was playing up recently, I accidently installed a virus whilst searching for a "free antivirus" after my original Virgin one expired, the virus I installed was cloaked as a genuine Windows anti virus, but what it did was completely remove my Firewall from the computer, but showed that it was still installed and running, when in fact it wasnt, we had a nightmare for about a week trying to sort things out.

If you are with Virgin broadband they have just brought out their latest security protection, I've only just installed it and it runs like a dream, not slowing down the computer and blocking out all adaware, virus's ect.

It doesnt come with a Firewall because they recommend that if you are running Windows you should only use the default Windows Firewall and not an add on, apparantly Firewalls can can interfere with each other, so you should only have one installed/running.
Luckily the new Virgin protection cleaned everything out and I then found a genuine site that re- installed the original Windows Firewall back in.

There was a number of things I did to solve my problem.

Try updating your security protection, go into the settings of your security protection and "check for updates".
Are you running Windows?
If so maybe your onboard default Windows protection is running in the background and messing with the Mcafee protection.

You could install Windows Defender, it has everything you need, in fact if you are on Windows this could already be installed as your default protection.

Another option is to unistall Mcafee, then reinstall it.
But like I say check your not running any default protection in the background, either way I would stick to your default Firewall.

Getting your Firewall on is probably more important than anything.
Even after I sorted mine out, with the help of the Virgin help line guy, he recommended anyone running Windows should just use the pre installed Windows default protection, and not adding a third party protection.

Ron if your Mcafee was a free anti virus check that is has not expired.

Be careful what sites you visit and what you download.
I was pulling my hair out trying to sort my Firewall out, but I was making things worse by downloading, what I though was genuine Windows software to solve the problem, when they wasnt.
I couldnt even get on this site without pop ups for all sorts of crap, I was getting page after page of adverts and nonsense.

Again if you are running Windows, try looking for Windows updates, sometimes installing updates corrects little problems. Windows updates should be in your computer as a default.

You will also need to check if your core Firewall software is installed and running ok in "services" on your computer.
Without this no Firewall will run.
It's easy to do, go to your search box at the bottom where you open your programms, type in "services" for windows 7, or services.msc for other windows.
A box will open up showing all your computers services, scroll down to see if Base Filtering Engine & Windows Firewall Service is started or running automatically, both of these need to be installed and on automatically, if you cant see them then you have the same problem I had, they've been deleted, if they are there but not started or not selected to turn on automatically, then just select them to start automatically.

This all sounds complicated Ron, but its not honest.

ps.
Windows Firewall Service & Base Filtering Engine in "services" need to be installed & running automatically no matter what Firewall you are using.
The virus I had deleted these 2 services, hence a Firewall could not run.
I would say that if you can see these 2 services and they are turned on automatically, your problem is with the Mcafee sofware.
But you need to check these 2 things first to elimate a problem in your operating system.
Theres lots of links on Google about Mcafee Firewall not running or turning itself off, it seems to be a common issue with Mcafee. :eusa-think:

Ron,
All of the above and previous thread is presumming you are running Windows and not a Mac.

PPs.
Stay away from Dirty Granny sites until you sort this out .

It's not a Firewall issue jactac. It's a scanning issue. My understanding is that, whilst i'm "surfing" or visiting websites this programme checks them out in "real" time. So if "dirty Granny" is considered to be too risque it will flag up a warning. My security package is a part of my BT subscription and is still active. I do run on Windows (something, not a number but a word/name) but the Windows security is disabled.

This is what I keep get popping up...............

Looking at that pop up Ron your Firewall is on, so you should be protected from "Granny", whether that be a good thing depends on your mood at that time

Personally I would try un-installing Mcafee then re-install it.
However you do need to check if you are running the default Windows protection in the background, because one protection could beworking against the other, ie: Turning one type of protection off because it may see it as a threat.

You could also Google " Why Is Real Time Turning Off On MY McaFee". theres bound to be an answer on Google .

There is an answer. I just do not understand it. That was my original question. I don't know what "M" or what "Toolbar"

The taskbar runs along the bottom of your screen (or can be at the side depends where you put it). The taskbar shows all open tasks /program's. You should see an ice showing the M. Double click on it and follow the instructions in your original question.

The security centre seems to be a page selling their products, for which I have no need. Based on what you are saying the only "M" is the McAfee logo (m within a shield) trying to do anything with that and the screen simply "freezes" and becomes unresponsive. Hey ho me and computers were never meant to be

Update I think that I may have resolved the issue. I removed and then reinstalled the security system. It now says that my computer is fully protected, whereas previously it was saying that there was multiple problems :happy-wavemulticolor:
