Advice requested. The felt has been blown off of my shed roof. So now the contents are getting rather wet. I want to re felt it tomorrow, but am concerned as to if I will be storing up problems for the future. The wood will/is wet, so if I recover the outside, will the roof rot or will in dry out from the unsealed under/inside?

Ron no doubt and hope you have the shed roof tempoarliy covered mate and by tomorrow get it done right....but what i would also do is,put a small electric heater in the shed at a low setting to take away any dampness that may have been caused by the rain before

Now wait till you hear this one my car went into the dealership for repairs today all day....for what i was told was a dashboard cluster...aka turbo boost/oil temp gauge that sits on top the dash + a new headlamp enclosure due to ingress of water....common fault on this type of xenon headlamp.

16.00 hours came and went no call to pick your car up mr Jassy ...lol so i called them "your car will be another hours so come down at 17.00 hours as we have had to replace a new keyless/respray a new passengers door handle"...l thought wtf.this wasnt told to me this morning anyhow.........i thought its only another hour :) but when they said door handle sensor......... Badly retro fitted Door card fitment came to the fore font of jassy mind....and sure enough on inspection it was loose and badly fitted  again it went back in to get fixed...17.30 by now its garage "closing time" 25 minutes later my car reappeared door card perfectly replaced  Lets go home....got out of the car at my mums "baring in mind its dark very dark but my headlamps are on a 2 mins delay setting after leaving the car" guess what :eusa-think: "i now have 1 newly fitted black besel enclosure" and one "existing silver besel enclosure" just like the rcz old xenons enclosures and "the new rcz black besel enclosures"

I am demented the problem being on the ford "ETIS" computer it says my car is fitted with black enclosure's so the parts manager will type in my VIN no and parts will be automatically ordered, but ford fitted the silver ones due to the slow manufacture of the black besel enclosures by a another company

i am :( :(

As long as theres no rot or sagging it will be fine and dry out in a week or so.
Personally I would leave it dry out naturally, rather than speeding it up, as this could cause a bit of shrinkage in the roof boards/ timber, which could cause the new felt to start to looking saggy from the outside.

A better option is to put a temporary cover on and leave the timbers dry out BEFORE fitting the new felt because the galvanised felt nails will be a tight fit going into the wet timbers, but they may become loose as the timbers start to dry out, again causing saggy felt in a few weeks.

It's a bit like wearing saggy wet Y-fronts Ron, as things dry out you will suffer from shrinkage and even dry rot :?

Most dealerships are a pile of poo, regardless of the brand of cars that they sell.

But despite this knowledge it never ceases to amaze me at the level of incompetence that they seem able to achieve.

I shall speak with her who must be obeyed and see if tarpaulin would be acceptable during the drying out process. May even tell a porkie and say that the hardware shop recommended such actions. She is keen to see the shed back to it's former glory sooner rather than later, but I have my concerns over this and jassy and jactac have supported my concerns. Thanks chaps for your replies
