Fook me it's hot. Me and my complexion (like a Nordic god) and herbridean sunrise hair colour and the sun are not a great match!! Unlike Jassy, I don't turn into an olive skinned love god under the influence of the sun but rather more akin to cooked crustaceans/shellfish...think lobster. Still...glorious day, car is gleaming in the sunlight and I am able to pull out my wigga basketball shorts from the back of the drawer...for that complete gangsta lobster look. Sweet...

what a great day too be left home alone. Used all my purchases from our detailing day at Bespoke and a few of the older purchases. :thumbup: She looks luvly :thumbup: however I feel totally cream crackered and I have a 72hr week ahead of me starting at stupid o'clock tomorrow :thumbdown:

So...had a pretty rough few weeks with my Dad going into hospital to remove a tumour on his kidney. Initially the surgery had gone well only for him to suffer complications while in recovery and had to be rushed into surgery again. Couldn't get any info all day and my mum was up to 99 with worry. My brother and I rallied round to be strong for her but were also pretty concerned by the lack of info. After 8.5 hours of surgery we received a call from the surgeon who informed us that he was in high dependency and had lost 3.5 litres of blood (the human body has between 5 and 6 litres on average). So first 24-48 hours were horrible as he remained critical. It really hit me to be so helpless and see my Dad so vulnerable and fragile. Anyway, he has made good progress and is now rehabilitating at home. Without being too cliched, it has really made me reassess my priorities and hit home the importance of family!!

Anyway, on to brighter things. The jubilee celebrations...wtf was that?! I dutifully avoided all broadcasts relating to it and was slightly appalled to find Aberdeen city centre looking as if it was decorated by a Rangers FC fan with union jack bunting strewn all across the centre of the city. Yes, I got a day off our of it but what a load of pish. So, 3.5 weeks and I'm on holiday for 7 weeks...boom!!!!! :lol: :lol: :lol: this is the ultimate perk of my job but it does mean that my friends look at me with thinly veiled contempt for 5 of those weeks and...you know what...I can live with that. :lol:

Mrizzle, sorry to hear about your father but sounds like he is on the road to recovery.
It's times like this, as you say, when you realise what's important in life and how fragile life can be. We take so much for granted, yet in an instance it can be gone. I'm going through something similar at the moment, which looks like it will be a long drawn out affair, with some very tricky times ahead. The only thing you can do is keep thinking positive and take / make the most of the good times when they come.

Enough waffle for now but boy do I envy you all that leave, in the hopefully, "summer".

I'm on leave from Friday for a fortnight. Not going away due to the reasons above but just looking forward to some chill time.

Hope all works out OK with your Dad Mrizzle. It certainly makes you take stock of life/family etc. Please everyone cherish all those moments - good or bad - that you spend with your parents.
And what job do you do to have 7 weeks off - a teacher? Lucky beggar. Am on holiday at the moment and having a long weekend away on Friday to Wootton Bassett. Not taking my car - going in the BF's Mitsubishi!! His other car's a TT - even worse.

Sorry to hear about your dad Rizzo,
Hope he's on the mend real soon.
Life really is too short and sometimes very painful.
My cousin buried her 23 year old son last week, he tragicaly took his own life after a stupid tiff with his brother, funerals are sad enough anyway but when you're burying a young lad who was only just starting to live his life then it really is a very very sad affair. To see so the family and so many youngsters openly crying at the funeral was heartbreaking.
Like yourself I've had a somewhat sombre few weeks.
I Hope things brighten up for you m8 and your dad.

Bownip - Great sentiments expressed and I couldn't agree more! Yup...it's a teacher's (rare) life for me and the hols are one of the absolute perks of the job. Sadly, no foreign adventures this summer as I am trying to reign in the last year's considerable expenditures - wedding day, honeymoon, 2 new cars in the house etc etc. Still 7 weeks of not having to set an alarm is a holiday in itself! :thumbup:

Jactac - that is such sad news and my thoughts go out to you and his family and friends. It is so sad to hear that someone so young has given up on or been unable to handle life. It's a tragedy to lose anyone under any circumstance but that is so deeply affecting in so many ways when it is under such a cloud. It must be very difficult for those affected to accept or understand.

RCZ1 - Thank you for your kindness and I hope that you are doing ok. You are absolutely right, you have to stay strong for each other and take time to appreciate every moment that you all have together. Stay positive and don't neglect yourself either!!

Rizz my heart goes out to you mate i can apathise 100% with ya and i really do know how your feeling :thumbdown: Jassy being the eldest of my family had to consult with all my wee brothers consultant surgeons with the diagnosis and the surgical proceedures with his cancer in his mouth and he was only 44 years old my parents where not emotionally strong enough to deal with it face to face with the medical team but he survived and is now doing better with his life than ever i wish your family the same fortune
