I agree about the dance versions but with a full orchestra behind him I don't think that's likely to be happening this time. More laid back if anything.

He done a album SONGS OF THE LAST CENTURY several years ago with all orchestra Backing it was pants  there was 1 good song in the full album it was ROXANNE.

FAVOURITE GEO SONGS.............Is "Jesus to a child""fastlove""Outside""Amazing""john and elvis are dead" and at NO 1 is "always" the old stevie wonder song

Well Pearl2 is now resplendent in her new illegal plates. No more dealers name on front and rear simply Pearl2. When I get the time I will do the job properly and have them made up legally, but for now these will do as it was easy to order of the net

He may well have sang it unplugged for MTV concert. He's apparently busy working on a new album in between his concerts which should see him back to his best by all accounts. More upbeat and all that..............................

I could wax lyrical about this man and his music. He's the best singer / songwriter there has been for a very long time

Dont mention Greenock , thats where my head office is based, and they just sent me a letter telling me to attend a meeting tomorrow with the threat of redundancies. :?

Its a bit of doom & gloom in the "H" household tonight.

Oh well bit of an update to the shock redundancies at BPI Swansea.
Just been given my 90 day notice, the whole site is closing.
30 years working like a dog for them and its all over after a 30 minute meeting in the works canteen !!!!!!!!!

I guess it was good of the top brass to leave the warmth of the boardroom and their cheese and wine buffet for a few mins to come down to the dirty & cold canteen to break the news to the people below them.

I hope they were'nt offended by the by the dirty coffee machine and smelly microwave that we (workers) have had to put up with, whilst they wined and dined themselves until the fat f**kers burst open.

BPI ltd management & directors, what a bunch of lowlifes.

So anyway it looks like its a visit to Autotrader for the Opal.

I'm open to offers :eusa-think:

Finger's crossed you'll get something else soon .... or take early retirement :eusa-think:

They are only offering the minimum redundancy package to all of the staff.
In other words, what they HAVE to give by law and not a penny more.

30 years = £10000
its all on the Dotgov website.
its calculated on time served, age and gross earnings, but the earnings bit is capped , and BPI just love earnings to be capped.

Not quite at the retireing age yet, i can still do the Ali shuffle

That really is bad news Jactac. After such long service its such a kick in the teeth to be only offered £10k.
Unfortunately, its becoming all too common.
Hopefully something will come up for you soon.

What an absolute bummer jactac. That is awful news. The type of news that takes a while for all the ramifications to sink in. Who are they? What do they do? I know you do something with plastics, but that's the limit of my knowledge. £10k for 30 years service is a real kick in the teeth. Presumably they are big employers, so it is affecting lots of families?
So So sorry mate. The sort of news that I hate to hear.

BPI are one of the biggest if not THE biggest polythene manufacture in Europe, they even have places in China.
My site has gone through a number of changes over the last 2 years, basicaly going from extruding big industrial polythene film for heavy industry (no money in it these days ) too retail polythene bags / sheets ect, where there is far more money to be earned.
It was a completly different product and i think it was all done too fast, the people on the shop floor had never done anything like this before and it quickly showed.

We make all the bags for Tesco, Next, Rockwool, Sainsbury, and many more, there is huge money in retail polythene, especialy if the bag/film has a print applied to it.
For instance the Next contract alone was said to be in the region of £9 million every 4 years, now you can see why Next charge £75 for a bloody shirt.

How BPI say we were losing money is beyond me, personaly i think it's behind the scenes politics thats has closed the Swansea site down.

My particular job was shift supervisor in extrusion dept, basicaly turning a small plastic pellet into polythene by means of blending and extruding.
The finished polythene was then converted into sheets, bags, shrouds, ect ect in another department.

Anyway not sure what the future holds, but i'm gonna try and hold onto the RCZ for a few weeks at least but in reality i think she's gonna have to go.
I'm a bit too old to go back to school, and may just try something totaly different.

Watch this space as they say

Ron,
All 49 of us laid off, most with families, my opposite supervisor's wife also worked there, so both their incomes have now gone !
The worrying thing is that most of us have worked there for 20 or 30 years so it's all we know and blown film extruding is not really widely popular in the jobs market.

Cheers buddy.

My heads in the shed at the moment, i was sort of expecting something, maybe big cut backs, even a drop in pay, but not this.
I have never signed on the dole, i left school at 16 and went straight into a job for 2 years then started at BPI, so this is very unfamiliar to me, out of my safety zone.

Earlier on i thought sod it and cracked opened the vodka but i just cant drink anything to be honest.

I might start to commute up to Bonny Scotland, and learn a thing or two about glow in the dark bog seats.
I'm sure theres a market down here for that sort of thing for us taffs to plug into :eusa-think:
