My 2nd yr service is due next month and just checked online price with local Pug dealer. They quote £414 omfg no way hosay.... So i`ll looked online and found Servingstop http://www.servicingstop.co.uk
I spoke to their advisor etc about warranties validation. I am very happy with this and the cost is £126..
Has anyone used this service as £300 is £300 and they discounted not needing to replace air filter as i have K&N

I've just been looking it cost of second year service.
My dealership wants £374, because they want to change diesel filter, pollen filter and air filter.
Diesel and pollen changed last year, air filter 40k or 4 years.
Only done 6k since last year.
They reduced it to £220, bit pricey for oil & oil filter.
Rang round a few places and got a service price of £115 from a Citroen dealership using genuine parts.
Still looking for cheaper.

I took out a service plan with my local Pug dealer when I got the car, even though I didn't get it from them. I pay £18 per month, and I get three years services (2nd 3rd & 4th) 1st MOT and 3 seasonal safety checks per year.

I thought it was quite good value, and at least I don't have to worry about a big bill once a year. :eusa-think:

Oh and I also get a discount on any purchase or work I have done with them, can't remember but I think it's 10%. It even applies to tyres, but I know even with the discount, I will be able to get them cheaper elsewhere.

Main dealership servicing is an absolute rip off. As long as Peugeot approved parts are used then you can go anywhere tax registered and your warranty will remain intact. Your also absolutely entitled to request that you provide all the required parts, filters, fluids etc and be charged only for labour. You'll already know how much the overcharge for certain parts, fluid etc so source them cheaper and you'll make pretty decent savings there too. They won't quibble with this more often than not as long as everything you provide is approved and seals etc intact.

Furthermore, never have I ever been asked while trading in my car if the car has a full/partial or any service history so, unless you're selling privately, this won't make a blind bit of difference either in my experience. Good luck guys and good for you for shopping around. So many don't!!

Guys it could be worse!!

My mate when he had his Maserati was charged £2,300 for a routine service with a timing belt change plus the pollen filters etc.

mind they did extent his warrantee by another year for "free" :eusa-whistle:

I agree that unless you are selling privately service history adds little or no value

In my case I know that in 4 years time (unless in the end of line "sales" I find a nice cheap R but guess we are on on the look out for that) I will part ex a car with 110k plus miles on it with little or no value regardless of any service history

Well I would disagree with you there to some degree. Having traded in both my last two RCZs, I was asked both times if it had a full service history AND they checked the service book was stamped accordingly. I was clearly told that it does affect the value of the car and is something that people should check when buying a car second hand, to ensure it has been looked after, as recommended.

With regards to servicing costs, this is wholly dependant on where you are located in the country. My two year service which I had done on Ruby in March, just before I traded her in, cost me around £160 and included a brake fluid change. Like everything it's worth shopping around for the cheapest place but I always take it to an authorised dealer.

I agree with Kerry, I have always been asked about the service history of all my cars when trading in. I don't know to what degree it affected the price, but they have always asked about it, so I assume it has at least some bearing on the offer you get.

Just had my Ford Focus CC3 full service done £218 inc a new mot.
When my R is due there is no way I'm going to spend more then £150, seeing as it will have done less then 4k miles.
I might even get the local garage to stamp the book for a drink :eusa-whistle:

As a buyer I'll request full service history but an awful lot of people don't actually check when buying from a dealership. They are happy that the car will be serviced (although this is often little more than a 30-40 point check rather than actual service). As I say, it's down to personal experience perhaps but when I sold the RCZ I agreed a price for the car over the phone (which was above the top book price for the age, mileage etc) without them having even seen the car and was not asked a single question about service history. It had one incidentally. This experience extends to every other car that I have sold and the last 3 cars that I've sold they provided a price based on provided details and looking it up on the system. They never even went out to their lot and looked at them. In all honesty, if I had the tools and the time, I'd service my own car.

I agreed a price over the telephone for Ruby but was still asked if it had a full service history and they checked my service book when I went to view the car because they asked to take my service booklet with me. They also had a look around Ruby and started her up. Maybe because I was trading a Peugeot for a Peugeot and they would be advertising and selling Ruby, that's why they were more interested as some dealerships would move them on, if they were not specific to the marques they sell?

Thx guys its put my mind at rest and i`ll go ahead with the offer and give you heads up when done. My only other question is how would you re set the cars messaging telling me about the next service or maybe the garage doing the service may know ?

They'll be able to reset it at the service interval. Just remind them as you book it in. They should do it automatically.

Make sure they give your service book a stamp too, after my 1st service, checked the book, nothing there. Had to go back and get them to do it.
They were really fussy too, had to get the service record out before they would stamp it.

Hi all' :greetings-wavingblue:

..they may ask as to whether you have Full Service History as it means they can pass it on BUT Glasses Guide the bible which dealers rely on when it suits them does not I believe quote different p/x values for vehicles with with full, partial or no service history OR whether its been done by Franchised or non franchised. Then again when they sell you a second hand car they never reduce their price if you state it only has a partial service history or non franchised service history either!

They look at the car and take it as a general overall package working out the value they are willing to give based on what they suspect they can sell it for. The amount they deduct for higher than average yearly mileage is minimal too ,,whatever annual mileage is nowadays?? !

Imaging if when you sold a house they said well the house is fine but I note that your Gas Boiler Service Contract has been with a local firm and not British Gas so we'll have to reduce the market value of the property ,,and worse still if you have no such gas boiler contract the Estate Agent says maybe you should try and sell it privately

.the big blue (..even atet the election I'm still sat on the back benches)

Sorry RCZ1 on re reading my post it got a bit lost between my brain and my finger tips!

I meant to say yes you need a service history but given that when I trade I'm likely to have maybe a £4 k car to trade then I don't think a pug service history would make any much difference and if it did move the trade in up a little as % of the cars value I don't think it would pay back £2ks worth of servicing from our friends at Pug rather than maybe £700 of service costs elsewhere

I've got the same problem, rang my local Pug dealer (Robins and day in Derby) for a second service price and was quoted £474.33. I am not paying a weeks wages for a service........no way!

So if anybody can recommend somewhere cheaper in the Derby area it would be very much appreciated.

If you want a main dealer service try Citroen. See my earlier post.
Far cheaper.
And make sure their change parts that require changing. (Anyone doing the service).
