Which they are. It is not so much about top speed but more about pulling from, let's say 70 up to 120-130 mph. Because hardly anyone is driving faster than 130 on autobahns these days.
I'd say it is about not letting a Peugeot pass because I'm driving a 70k Euro benz or audi. So you cannot pass! It is a very childish behavior. I'm driving my pace and just want to get pass by. But often I catch up some bigger benz or audi and if I catch them, it means my pace is higher then theirs. So please let me go. But as soon as they see me in the mirror, oh sis is a french car! I paid more for my german car! Let's see if I can pull away!
And then they start to do silly things, accelerating flat out and not moving aside although the lanes are free. After a while they give up and move aside. Often they greet me with the middle finger or as soon as I pass by they move behind me and flash me like crazy. If their headlights had guns they would shred me, haha.
But sometimes you meet cool people. Mostly in high priced cars like this one guy from UK in his Aston Martin. He was cool enough to let me run against his Aston V8. Sure, he pulled away, I knew it. But I wanted to hear the sound of his engine and see how fast does he get away. Thumbs up, goodbye and have a safe journey back home.
But honestly, Germans are the worst drivers in Europe. Just plainly the worst, selfish drivers in all of Europe.
