I'm sure that you would Max. There was just such a lot of "hot air" a while back about the power etc, but those critics seem to have been struck dumb now

Oh right

Some pretty impressive figures emerging from RCZ R roadtests! Going to be a little monster:

And then obviously, you need to compare it to the current benchmark in Front Engined Front drive technology, the Megane Rs265 Trophy, and guess what, it is faster, even around the track. (Btw - I read an article on the Meg 265 where the RS Sport guys confessed, 195kw is a conservative quote, their later 265's make closer to 213kw!!!!!!!)

One shouldn't forget that much of the RCZ exterior is unique and cannot be cheap to produce. Hot hatches normally use a standard production bodyshell with a few extra bits to make it look sporty. Therefore you must accept that part of the relatively high cost of an RCZ is it's fantastic and very special looks.

The number of posts on here about the RCZ being under powered and it needs to drive like it looks etc etc. Peugeot have responded. Where are those people now ? :eusa-shhh:

Hi 0058RON I have been to my dealers where thay have a R and think it really does look superb, but think the big problem for peugeot at the mo is that price..... yes its got cracking engine, lovely new seats etc etc but it just needs to be a cheaper i think to get the interest that it deserves. As said before their are to many good cars out and coming which are just that bit cheaper . New Seat leon Cupra another one for example had a couple of these in the past fantastic car, the new one with 280bhp ,full leds , dab radio sat nav , very good spec as standard £28.500 ....... Well time will tell as as you say but if the price changes i will get one :eusa-shhh:
You could compare lots of cars with each other but it comes down to looks and what you like and want? i personally would choose the RCZ over the Leon anyday.
Lots of cars are more powerful and cheaper than a Golf GTi but they sell loads.

Excellent review! Sounds like the car is exactly what we've been hoping for! Love the comparison to the Golf GTI LOL!

It certainly does sound like quite a car. However, and I say this without any biased despite my plans to purchase the new Golf GTI or R in the coming years, it's a frankly ridiculous comparison to make. They're wholly different cars and they set out to do rather different things. Compare the 308 R to the Golf R by all means bit an RCZ R being compared to a Golf GTI is frankly very poor journalism.

I assume they mentioned the GTI because there's been so much hype going on about this "new" version.

By the way, for those of you who are interested in squeezing the most out of the R (me :) ), here are some very promising lap times:

Golf GTI is only £26,000

Yeah poor/inaccurate Journalism as the RCZ-R should be compared to cars in the same price bracket... :eusa-think: Golf-R,BMW M135i,Audi S3 all with far more grunt,Tech, ability, build quality+Better more modern interiors,... and also a few Grand cheaper,SPEC THEM UP to the Rcz levels of equipment and they are all the same price, No doubt its a capable car but all the intelligent money will go on the above cars....No wonder the PUG dealerships ARE apprehensive on buying several cars at a time...They Should do what Fiat done with Abarth and just appoint a few RCR-R dealers nationwide in the UK...

This has always been my point with the RCZ-R...

I wish I spoke French to really know what they were saying in the vid but it does sound tremendous on the track and seems to rev rapidly!

I'd love a shotty of one and be able to experience it first hand!!

Nobody knows how it will pan out, with only around 300 being sold they could become quite sort after irrespective of the original RCZ residuals.
You only have to look at a Focus RS still commanding £20k plus for a 4 year old car, but other Focus's are worth less than 35% after 3 years

Yeah, quite remarkable. I'd like to see the RCZ R going for the hot hatch benchmarks like the Megane 265 Cup and M135i in a proper road test. Hopefully the EVO magazine will come with something like this any soon.
Other cars like the TTS or Scirocco R are not up to the RCZ R when looking at those track times.

Theres a nice review pitting it against the Scirocco-R in CAR magazine. On paper very similar cars.
RCZ-R the far more driver focused proposition.
