I don't think I'm being overly sensitive when I say that I am also getting irritated by jassy's constant and increasingly vitriolic criticism of the RCZ. Most of us are on this forum because we own or want to own an RCZ and most of us feel positive towards the car even though we all know it's not perfect. Likings for cars are not entirely logical and are therefore not based purely on a formula of how fast per £, how many gizmos per £ or how 'modern' an interior is, but also on our emotional attachment to them. I know that there are other cars which are better value for money on paper or perform better in one respect or another but I chose an RCZ and I'd like to enjoy my choice and participate in this forum without someone constantly sniping at that choice. If it goes too far then the forum just won't be enjoyable any more. If you've totally fallen out of love with the RCZ but still like the forum may I suggest that you at least consider how your negative comments make others who are enjoying their RCZ's feel?

We are talking about a guy who failed to get a BMW z4 , then an Audi , then got his ST saying its the best car he's ever owned then less than a year later wants to get an Audi S3.

I'm too new to this community to judge on its members. But alone a statement saying, a Megane RS is a dinosaur, shows me that guy has no clue about driver-focused cars. This is even more supported by pointing out to choices like a Focus ST or even worse, a Golf R.
But I will shut up for a while as I'm too new here. cheers.

Ooops...accidental 'like' there. However, can I suggest that we all refrain from making any comments that are inflammatory or personal on both sides. Also, we are losing sight of the original purpose of this thread.

So if they can get the R around the Ring faster than the Meg it will take honors for fastest FF production car currently for sale!?

Cant wait to get my hands on a RCZ R... it might not be new (or maybe it might if I wait till my next increase) but I do not see another car parked on the right hand side of my garage in the next 5 years, that does not say RCZ on it

You are not too new that your opinions should not be voiced. We all have them and that's what makes for conversation and in some cases knowledge. It would be a boring place if everybody always agreed on everything. Some people do like to play the devils advocate in order to liven up a topic. Feel free to join in and put in your own two penethworth. We are not averse to newbies with an opinion

I will take my hat off to anybody who buys the RCZ R. A truly impressive effort from Peugeot. Unfortunately people think that looking at 0-60 Times on autotrader justifies their cars superiority without actually driving them. Comparing the R in performance and cost to fast hatchbacks is pointless. I know which one I will enjoy looking at and driving everyday. I'm quite confident in saying that most RCZ owners don't care of others opinion because it's a car for the individual not the majority.

Its more than just 0-60, its also about in gear, 1km sprint and lap times. R was built by the same guys who were challenging Audi at Le Mans, the guys who are building the Rcz racecar and the 208 pikes peak car. It was designed to take on the best and fastest front engined cars in the world all whilst keeping the elegant design of the current Rcz. Marvelous concept and i am very proud of the guys that their product is excelling in the performance arena. Why take their laurels away for building something that can compete with fast hot hatches?

I think they deserve a standing ovation

Btw - as a petrolhead who got bewitched by the good looks of the rcz, had that not happened, the R would now have my full attention anyways

This is interesting from Autocar............ :eusa-think: Strong pre-orders for Peugeot RCZ R
Hot new Peugeot proves popular with buyers; annual sales forecast of 350 cars could be exceeded following 200 pre-orders in two weeks

The 267bhp RCZ R is a high-performance version of Peugeot's sports coupé

by Lewis Kingston
23 January 2014 9:42am.More than 200 pre-orders for the Peugeot RCZ R have already been received in its first fortnight on sale.

Peugeot originally forecast to annually sell in the region of 300 to 350 examples of the 267bhp RCZ Rs.

The new car is the most powerful road-going Peugeot in history. Most of the car's buyers are existing RCZ owners looking to trade up to a more powerful and evocative model, with the others being traditional early adopters.

"The forecast was based on market analysis of equivalent cars," a Peugeot spokesman told Autocar. "The RCZ R is really the missing piece in our jigsaw; it's a halo model with a powerful engine that our competitors have always had in their ranges.

"Sales are now expected to be significantly higher than expected. We could sell lots, but we don't want to flood the market and harm residual values."

In order to ensure that the RCZ R's residuals remain as strong as possible, a limited number of demonstration models will be offered to dealerships.

"The cars can be displayed in dealerships, but only a handful will be offered to test. This is primarily to avoid damaging the market and residual values, by flooding it with used examples several months down the line. You can't create demand, so it's best to control the numbers."

There are no plans to cap the total number of RCZ Rs brought into the UK, allowing those who wish to buy the cars to do so, but long lead times are expected.

Production of the car is carried out at the Magna Steyr facility in Graz, Austria, alongside the RCZ - and more could be produced to meet the demand if necessary.

"The company will support us to sell more, if the buyers are there," the spokesman aded.

Peugeot's range-topping RCZ R is available now, priced from £31,995. Power comes from a turbocharged 1.6-litre petrol engine that helps propel the 267bhp front-wheel drive model from 0-62mph in 5.9sec.

Talking about lead times for the RCZ R:

back in Sept 2013 I was talking to my pug dealer about the RCZ R, the price and by when it can be ordered. Back then he had no clue. Or didnt want to share his wisdom with me, I dont know. October was the same game.
Then during November into mid of December I was on vacation. I came back and he told me, yes, we are taking pre-orders since end of October. He was allowed to do so as he's selling most RCZ in his area. Great, I'm late now, thanks for nothing!
OK, I took the order by mid of December with a lead time into June 2014. If I was one of those very early pre-orders, I could take my car home by end of January. Like those demonstrators which now arrive at the stores.
Right now, if you order over here, you are faced with a lead time into Sept 2014. Ridiculous.
Peugeot shall wind up the production capa!

Come on Jassy all cars are based on the cars in that model line.

RCZ R = 308 interior, more powerful engine, bucket seats and poor residuals (possibly)
Your Focus ST = Standard Focus interior, more powerful engine, bucket seats and poor residuals.

And Ford quality isnt that great either.

What's the difference?

The difference is the RCZr is exciting as Peugeot has never done anything like this before which is pretty exciting and will be a lot rarer on the road than your Focus .

For example if i remember the Ford RS 500 was supposed to be the bees knees and sold for well over the RCZ R's price but sold out straight anyway but has lost thousands, the point was it was different and people didnt care if they lost money it was the fact that that the car was different to anything that Joe public would own , so the Peugeot is really no different than anybody else!

yeah i totally agree Mike, i really do but,l aint deluded in the fact i own a FORD FOCUS and not INTO thinking its a Contender in the cast for the next "Fast & Furious" film. On this thread its been compared to a Golf GTI no chance and nothing ever will,AND ALSO a ELDERLY Megane RS  it will never BE its too expensive.but i dont like that car either the interior is shocking

The rcz had the worst car interior i have ever owned....That goes for the RCZ-R as well....AND cj....who ever you are..i am still entitled to my opinion go figure..As are you :) and all the RCZ-R ..."Window Shoppers"......put your money where posts are...Buy one....and not just jump on the KIDOLOGY BAND WAGON and get a test drive...pooor show....if you want a car that much....you will buy it without a test drive.....

i haven't been here long but he is boring me already. :sleeping-yellow: :sleeping-yellow:
I bought my RCZ (and really do own it down to the last nut and bolt) because i fell in love with the car on the day she was released ( just couldn't afford it at the time)
i am not intrested in 0-60 times or all the other crap that goes with these pointless debates.
i could buy an RCZ R tommorow (in full) if i wanted but im happy with my standard GT hdi and dont see the point of the massive fuel bill for my daily commute. my car aint the best and it has flaws but then again so does every car.
i live round the corner from a guy who has a focus RS, looks the part but is slower than my RCZ. how do you ask? because he cant afford to run the bloody thing.
Jassy i could own most of the cars you harp on about (and i do mean OWN as in outright) but i choose not to.

and why is that? because my RCZ selected me to own her its that simple.

Thats why we are all on here.

if you really hated yours so much dont let the door hit you on your way out

All im doing is quoting facts and figures?

Just to correct you? You did say "The rcz had the worst car interior i have ever owned"so your last statement is incorrect? :eusa-shhh:

Jassy. I don't mind what you are saying here as it is your opinion.

Every time I read one of your posts though I always think why did you ever own one? The interior being awful and the drive/steering being lack lustre are two of your main gripes - two pretty important ones if you are the driver! Did you jump in one before you ordered it?

I'm sure the reason is here somewhere, but please humour me!

I actually really like the interior design and the quality of it is quite OK as well :) ........
I do too. I don't get the people that call it "dated". Doesn't feel like that to me. Sure they compare it to the new 308's interior, but that interior is WORSE technical wise so i don't see the need to compare it to something that's not as good anyway.

So my 328i F30 arrived this week and I will agree with the above, jumping from the beemer to the RCZ does not feel like going a step down. Only place where the BMW is better is at road noise when driving 160+ kph. This week, i've owned my Z for 1 year and still love it as much as the day we got her!
