Well, this is very disappointing indeed. I thought the weight of 1280kg was something wonderful. Alas, this is not the case, in fact it's not even close. The real weight is 1404kg. This is a kick in the guts for every bona fide enthusiast. Peugeot may as well throw a 124kg slab of granite into the R and enjoy all the performance degradation it entails. I mean, wtf, how can such a mistake even happen? This makes the R only a little lighter than my Focus RS, and now I wonder if it's worthwhile getting the R at all. To me, the weight of 1280kg expressed a very serious intent and now that has been dashed. I realize the R still has cool things like the aluminium hub to keep the weight down, nevertheless, an error of 124kg is simply inexcusable. I really thought a Peugeot Sport developed 1280kg coupe, with a 270hp from a 1.6 litre engine was something special.

Here's a link to the pistonheads story, http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=28705

Here's a picture of the wonderful engine to cheer everyone up

Really? That will put you off buying the car? Just take out the passenger seats and the carpets and I'm sure you will find a good 100kg

On the (MOT) paper MY car weighs 1372 kg.

Probably depends on how they weigh it....Or my car is missing some bits

I dunno...end of the day they've made some fairly significant additions and tweaks to the car and still saved weight in the 200. The weight may have changed but the quoted performance figures haven't so I wouldn't be too downhearted. Good move binning the Contis. I really am NOT a fan of these tyres and, for the price of them, I am massively underwhelmed by the (lack) of grip and performance that they offer when pushed hard or when the road surface is wet.

The RCZ-R will never compete with a focus RS  why you thought the pug R was lighter than a normal Rcz puzzles me :eusa-think: the focus RS mk3 Will be the car to have with a est 350 bhp from the 2.3 ecoboost engine or even a Audi RS3

It is lighter Jassy. 17kg lighter than the 200 according to the link.

Yeah but there's a big difference between 17kg and a 124 kg lighter with just 270 bhp the rcz R is heavier than my focus and a Golf gti awe anyway he's the first ever RS Owner that l have heard of that would jump to a pug as most RS GUYS have blue blood running through their veins

Well....more exciting to me (if I'm honest) is that VW have just started taking orders for the new Golf R with 300 BHP. If I was in the market (and being honest) that's where my money would go and the base model R is starting at only a fraction over 31 grand. It'll do 0-100km/h in 4.9 and it has launch control...BOOM. :D

Sorry Peugeot but something else has turned my head!

Not wishing to hijack the thread and I'm sure I'll get a few pelters for my comments  but I'm just being honest.

Roc R is cheaper mate although l like the looks of the golf R more it's the S3 for me as l am financially less burdened now, l had a look at a new GTD A few ago it's was fully loaded with the expensive satnav DSG and 19inch alloys on it and in white,it looked very nice classy but a little understated so the R will be more adventurous xenons are standard on the GTD/GTI now .

I thought the contis were more of an eco tyre so less grip(rolling resistance)/more mpg.

Sorry Mr Rizz but Golf's of any kind, don't really grab me. I do think the new Golf's have a slight improvement on the looks front but not for me I'm afraid. I appreciate it's not the looks which are particularly important here but I do have to like how a car looks when I buy it. Just my personal preference. We can't all be the same can we laddo ? ;)

It would be a very boring world if we did young RCZ1!!!

Jassy - I still like the Roc's the R version in particular but was oddly put off by the lack of any type of rear visibility. That and I aim for the next car to be somewhat more practical for the future patter of any personalised Nike ID trainer footed little Rizz's in years to come...I hope.

I believe that they are middle of the pack in rolling resistance tests but they are actually marketed as "max performance sports tyres".

Yes I am :) but I'm not going to buy a car that I don't like the look of am I? ;)

I do appreciate its very quick but as I've said in other threads, how often do you get to use that kind of speed on our roads these days. Apart from those boy racer types that drive like lunatics with no regard for anyone else.

I am enjoying getting more speed out of my RCZ these days and using it more than I ever did in Pearl, due to changes in my circumstances, but I do think you can have too much power. It's just wasted with ever reducing speed limits.

It's a conundrum, isn't it? More power= faster acceleration=a more visceral shove in the back...which is therefore over with all the quicker (points don't make prizes in license terms ;))

I still fancy a go in the RCZ R though :D

So do I Steve  just to see what it's like ;)

But you know women, we like a slow burn rather than quick, Wham ! Bam ! (there's a good 'ole Wham! Song for you Jassy :eusa-whistle: )

Compare and contrast and all that.

Out of my price range though. Maybe in a few years when they come down in price.
