Multiple Faults

Hey folks just thought if give u an update on the RCZ as its developed an extensive list of troubles....

Just had its 20k service and for the first 300 miles after that it felt amazing.. However the first fault appeared a day after I collected it. "TOP UP COOLANT LEVEL" flashed and went away.. I thought initially that maybe some apprentice has filled the coolant durin the service and a bubble would work its way out so wasn't bothered. When I got home I checked the service manual and realised the coolant wasn't looked at so I went to top it up only to realise that the level (when cool) was sitting perfectly. Now the temperature gauge rises from 50-90 and never stands still. Always going up and down.

Problem 2 driving yesterday a wee judder followed by the RCZs favourite message ENGINE FAULT REPAIR NEEDED...
Self explanatory.. Once again seems like a timing / turbo issue as there is small lack of power compared with how it felt just after ye service

Problem 3 same time new message flashes BATTERY CHARGE OR ELECTRICAL SUPPLY FAULT..
No obvious signs of problems although this morning there is a Definate electrical whine from somewhere..

On top of the previous timing issues, the suspension sounding about 10 Years old and croaking and my OEM backbox developing a hole before Christmas it's safe to say that the Peugeot has been into the garage more than my previous cars...

Only thing is they were all second hand Rovers and MGs... Not a new £25,000 "premium" car.....

Any thoughts on problems 1 and 3?

Man that is rubbish news!! I'm not surprised to hear that you are both disappointed and disaffected by the faults you have been experiencing. I, myself, have been experiencing a range of niggles, although none quite as severe as yourself. Hopefully, you'll manage to get things sorted out swiftly and I will interested to hear the reasons for your problems.

PS - Just as well you turned down the Boxster...it's not a 'real' Porsche...it's a "girls" Porsche (now awaiting abuse from Boxster owners and females alike)

True! But it's the only one you can justify driving without a roof as rag top 911 are beelzebubs handiwork ;)

Wee update on the car - went in April 6th and its turned out to be an electrical issue causin problems with the Fan, also the ECU is goosed so a new one will be required. Unfortunately for me it's on back order till the 17th so I was careless for about a week. Managed to wangle my way into a Suzuki swift for £12/ day as since I didn't buy the RCZ from them they said they didn't have to give me the RCZ courtesy car free of charge ... Even though the last 2 warranty jobs have been done by the garage and the servicing ... But we can gloss over this as finally I will be getting my RCZ back in what will be a relativly rare condition... Working!

Oh final rant... What's the score with peugeot assistance? Do new cars now get 3 years free? Seem to remember something bout and upgraded package for RCZ owners?

Figo, as I understand it, you get 1 years Peugeot assistance but if you pay some extra you can get cover for 3 years.

I hope all your problems will soon be in the past and you can get back to enjoying your RCZ.

I've got the Assistance 'Plus'... I THINK I was £120ish to extend the assistance to cover thee years, but I later upgraded to 'plus' (which includes unlimited callouts for burst tyres and AA provides a courtesy car for up to 5 days if the tyre place can't get their hands on our silly size. The upgrade was £60 for the 3 years. Peace of mind for a quine on a dark, cold, rainy night not having to worry about taking wheels off or getting her hands dirty!!!

Hi Figo, I have been experiencing the same thoughts as you and just waiting for the next thing to happen. I think I have found some medicine that could just be the cure. It’s called the BRZ/GT86. Go out and get it quick. :greetings-wavingblue:

Figo, I got my car in February of this year and was only offered one year's assistance as part of the purchase. I have toyed with purchasing the extra 3 year's cover and Donna's post kinda justifies the purchase i think.

Glad to hear that your RCZ is almost FINALLY back on the road and fault free. Have you bonded with the Swift? I had one the other day from Belmont...it wasn't awful I have to say but it isn't a patch on the Pug.

I actually like ye little swift... done about 600+ miles having to go to the missus's sisters graduation in glasgow so maybe it's not a bad thing that I didn't have the pug, saved a few bob on petrol!
I think I'll ask about the assistance as it would certainly put my mind at ease a bit!
Supposed to be collecting the car today and I am maybe a tad excited!

Ace news that you are getting it back today...fingers are crossed for you!! I'll keep my eyes peeled for you on the roads once again!! I think there is another white RCZ on the Aberdeen roads now...and there was one in the lot awaiting collection when I was in last week. Yours will still be the original though!!

There's a white one now 'living' in Ellon and one at Newmachar .... it, as with certain other whites, seems to have a faulty rear spoiler

Still nae another red one though..........

For all the spoiler digs I'm gonna get the car wrapped the same as yours just to spite you ;)

All is well in RCZ land engine wise now! New fuse box, new ECU and new Turbo Cooling pump.

Still groans about the suspension and I have can't get the plastic bit on the seat to clip back on (most technically sound description ever!)

I've missed it... But forgot how big that wheel was! Coincides nice with titanics steering wheel!
