Hi' all :greetings-wavingblue:

...well .the big blue quickly stopped dancing like its 1999 once the cheque to reimburse me arrived through my letterbox from the dealer :eusa-think: ,,they've made a mistake !

The amount on the cheque was for the component and labour only ,,WHAT about the £56 diagnostic I had to have in order for them to confirm the faulty "ENGINE TEMPERATURE SWITCH" that every Forum member had already diagnosed FREE OF CHARGE !!

The dealer advised me that the cost for the "diagnostic" that they carried out to confirm the fault would not be reimbursed as they had not been authorised by Peugeot to do so

A frantic phone call to Peugeot Customer Services confirmed this 'scandalous fact' which of course I had to accept! HOWEVER, such a penny pinching tactic by 'Peugeot' came as a shock as I had been led to believe when told that that I would be reimbursed meant the full cost in the same way that previous warranty repair work/s (albeit via a third party warranty company) had reimbursed the Component, Labour AND the stipulated Diagnostic !! ...SHAME ON YOU, SHAME ON YOU, SHAME ON YOU

At least Peugeot reimbursed me the majority of the cost albeit I would have expected the sum to be the FULL amount that I was required to pay up front to their dealer !

.the big blue (..I ask that Forum members stand and appropriately sulute Peugeot for their customer service ethic which was good BUT could have been better ! :eusa-shhh:

That is P. poor really. Why reimburse a customer for what they've admitted is a fault only to snatch away the good feeling they could have left you with. Bonkers!

That's a very strange approach to customer service. Not one that appears entirely unique to Peugeot either.

I agree with Steve though, it's a bit like putting money back in your pocket only to take some of if back again when you're not looking. Poor show.

Thanks all :greetings-wavingblue:

..AND it's nice to hear from other members that it is not just a case of my expectations simply being set too high in respect of this particular matter, like i say i do appreciate that they met the majority of the cost BUT the penny pinching measure simply confirmed how I so often feel when entering the Lions den (no Peugeot pun intended) !!

Took my previously owned Celica for a service yesterday (now my partners car and not a random act of charity to its new owner) to a small independent two mechanic garage and the service was beyond reproach. There was none of the nonsense that even if I supply my own consumables I would still be charged the full scheduled menu service cost due to it being pre set?? ,,,INDEED! Anyway when I went to collect the Celica and was told the cost I felt like offering to pay an extra £100 on top of their meagre compared to Main Dealer fee ,,BUT didn't of course as i've Puegeot bills to pay!!

In respect of Independent garages I always feel that I am paying for the actual service delivered and NOT for all the corporate folk who go nowhere near the Service Bay yet take the largest slice of the cake! (the NHS model)

.the big blue (..business is business and profits must be made I know ,,BUT we agree thats still no excuse)

Hi the big blue,

Just to let you know that 'my' Peugeot main dealer replaced this sensor FOC last month on my out-of-peugeot-warranty THP 200. Car was in for a service that day and I asked about this fault that I had begun to suffer.
I printed out RCZPerformance' forum post of the current fix and also another members link to a YouTube video of this fault - told them I was having the same issue and I had a call from the dealer while it was in saying they were replacing the sensor as a gesture of goodwill!!!

Definitely worth gathering the evidence from this wonderful forum and taking it in with you!

Stuart

Stuart and Big Blue, please could either one of you post the links to RCZPerfomance' forum post AND YouTube video for me?

Had this problem for about 3 weeks now. Moving up to Lancashire next weekend so I thought it would be a good idea to get it checked out with Peugeot before I leave for the 4 hour journey. Booked in for Monday morning! It would be a great help if I was able to get this fixed for next to nothing as my RCZ ran out of warranty in April and I forgot to renew! Had to fork out a hefty £700 in May due to a misfire too... not cool!

Thanks in advance!

You can always use an independent garage to have your vehicle serviced/repaired as long as they are VAT registered, and use genuine Peugeot parts, your warranty will still be valid!

So you can still use the Main Dealer for warranty work.

The parts don't even have to be genuine Peugeot - they just have to be of equivalent quality. I am in the independent aftermarket parts trade and know about this subject!

£206 it cost ME!

I was told to contact PCS myself as the dealership believed it would be harder for them to fight my case if they were talking to me about it rather than through the Service Advisor. I shall make the call on Friday when I'm off work and see what they say... Hopefully I get reimbursed.

PS. I was charged an £89 diagnostics fee before any work even took place! I even went in there and told them that it was most likely the sensor... and it was!

Hi' dominicharlow :greetings-wavingblue:

..thats a bit mor than they normally charge for a diagnostic ,,where did you take it to if you don't mind saying BUT if you don't want to disclose No Worries !

I was advised that its sometimes best if the customer contacts Peugeot Customer Services which seem to make little sense as surely the weight of a main agent should be able to state the case sufficiently. Anyway we'll await to hear what the outcome is with regards to who ultimately meets the cost of replacing the known faulty component !!

.the big blue (..it seems that the complexity of modern vehicles is here to stay and their fragility is part and parcel of it from what real mechanics have advised me. I mourn the passing of mechanicals over that of electronic wizardry !)

Hi the big blue,

I took it to a Franchised Peugeot Dealership under the name of Motorline Peugeot - in Broad Oak Road, Canterbury. I thought it was a bit much but I went ahead a paid it anyway. Roll on Tuesday for the phone call from Peugeot Customer Services!

Hi dominicharlow :greetings-wavingblue:

..ive not used the Motorline dealership that you have stated but have contacted them previously. I have used Robins And Day, and on three occasions the cost for diagnostics has been in the £54 arena and NOT the inflated £80+ that seems to have been plucked out of the corporate Motorline air for you. Advise them that they are charging more than Robins & Day charge to diagnose such a common Z' fault and ask if its because their technicians are not as competent to work on Z's and see what reason/s they provide you with as that should be interesting!

We'll await to hear what result you get back from Peugeot Customer Services with regard to the rectification charge.

.the big blue (...hopefully the result you receive will be inline with both mine and numerous others suffering this fault)
