No, I got no 308 GTi in my garage
And most probably I won't. They are going to put a particle filter on the 308 GTi now. This will suck the life out of this engine
Pug told me they have changed it with the 308 GTi. Means, they introduced those gearbox oil changes on the 308 GTi first. Thny it should have been applied to RCZ R as well. My pug dealer didn't know about it either.
I requested it to be done on my R at about 50.000 miles from new. So I didn't get my hands dirty. Can't tell you how much oil you need.
Back then the dealer did not want to perform this service saying, that gearbox fill is a lifetime fill. Maybe this is what they have been told by 2013 as the R...
Some of the Pug dealers even don't know about the requirement to change the gearbox oil in the RCZ R every other 12.500 miles as well (means during the yearly service).
The RCZ R really starts to shine when you push it towards its limits. Yes, it has a well sorted ride at lower speed as well. But the magic happens close to its limit. I love when the rear steps out in a controlled and "announced" manner and you can catch her with a slap of oppo. And on winter...
Re: +80.000 miles with the RCZ R (my story)
It depends on many factors. The most important to me would be to learn how that racechip works. The company will not disclose any details to you (IP) but they should be able to explain to you what that module does to your car's ECU. Because devices...
Yep, right.
I just spotted this post for the first time and I'm wondering why he would replace the pistons, rods and other stuff on the R engine? Those parts are good enough for his 330 bhp goal. Peugeot Sport drives the TCR cars with a stock engine at about 330 bhp. He only need to apply...
Yes, that is a proper motor. I had the 340i and 440i also on the radar as replacement to my R but I cannot afford this car on the conditions I run my cars. I need to "downgrade" with my next choice to stay afloat
But I'd love to push this motor day by day over the autobahns. I'd remove...
Great motor!
A buddy of mine has the old 335i, E92. The true biturbo 6pot engine by BMW. The RCZ R goes head2head up to about 140 MPH and then the beemer starts to pull slowly away. But nothing extraordinary. More like the typical motorway scenario of two lorries racing each other.
But the new...
Re: +80.000 miles with the RCZ R (my story)
Correct. I also expect those numbers to be close to a "new" engine. I hope to get some numbers for reference.
Re: +80.000 miles with the RCZ R (my story)
I'm with you. I would also like to know the values for a "new" engine. I will ask the company where I did the test. Maybe they know.
When it comes to turning up the volume on the engine I would only go for a remap on the rollers. Never a piggy-back...
Re: +80.000 miles with the RCZ R (my story)
Correct.
They start low as the engine cranks low. And then the numbers go up as the engine cranks up. And until a point where there is no more gain in pressure.
The line for the first cylinder here is a bit off. It should have cut off at 10.5 bar...
Re: +80.000 miles with the RCZ R (my story)
UPDATE:
I've done a compression test on my R engine. The results are pretty good.
So basically what you see here is a compression test result from an R engine with almost 100.000 miles on it. Hard driven miles.
The results are what I have expected...
It shows those gear changes all the way up to 155 MPH and beyond.
The funny fact is, when the 155 MPH limiter is taken away and you actually go beyond 155 then a gear change indicator lightens up. Like it would tell you, come on, it is time for 7th gear.
I also recommend to change the brake fluid far more often then it is advised in the service manual. This simple step will help prevent from corrosion for those of you who do not use the R on daily/regular basis and do not put serious heat/strain on those brakes. Once a year should help prevent...
Re: +80.000 miles with the RCZ R (my story)
I get your drift here :greetings-wavingblue:
I would say the turbo was the most expensive part. Right after that was the high pressure fuel pump (the one which I hope is not failing again).
The rest was more or less reasonable when it comes to...
