I only had one major issue with my petrol, the timing chain and associated bits needed replacing. Other than that I enjoyed it and it was fairly good on petrol given the stick it got. Upper 30s tank to tank.
*whisper*
It's not as good as my new GT86 though
I can't see how really. I only know of one other car with it, the new Insignia.
So surely you're relying on the MOT inspector knowing that the car has the system. How would he test it? Does he need to test it?
If a light is on then yes that would probably mean a fail, but otherwise I'm not sure...
I'm sure there must be some clever bod somewhere who could write them out of the ecu.
Writing off vehicles that have suffered minor damage because of the cost/availability of these items is stupid.
I used to get my usual, local mechanic to service my RCZ, and I'll be doing the same with my GT86. Both are simple cars, so no specialist equipment needed.
At a certain age you gain nothing from paying through the nose for a "Main dealer service history"
Also, what software updates are you...

It's not my old shark grey one is it with a chattering that was assumed to be the dual mass flywheel? :eusa-think:

Whatever it was it was bloody annoying.
To be honest, going on my experience in the past with Peugeot dealers I'd just do simple stuff like changing a battery myself.
I did a coil pack and battery on my RCZ myself, I just knew I'd be without the car for 11 years and be shafted for "diagnostics" if I involved a dealer.
I very much doubt getting the amp to play ball without the requisite loom will be much fun.
Which from memory of pulling my RCZ apart to fix rattles lives somewhere around the rear lights. Which side I don't remember.
On the subject of sound dampening, the interior of an RCZ is certainly a lot...
There has been much debate over this on the "flimsy Japanese car forums" (aka GT86 forums)
I personally, going on the pictures released, am not a fan. I think it's basically BMW with Toyota bits.
Now if it had come out looking like the FT1 concept I'd have a different opinion.
Also, price is...
Off the top of my head.
All RCZs collapsed jacking points. Locking wheel bolts and keys are crap, if standard. Bin them and fit 4x standard wheel bolts.
Petrol, start it from cold and listen for the chain slapping around. They like eating coilpacks. I replaced one on mine, and have seen many...
