I have moved back to a sports car with a plain old cam belt that runs in a dry pocket heaven! Plus no eco mode bings or bongs, parts are so plentiful like running water.
I do miss that sharp chassis on the R though, those brakes wow! Parts supply, high stupid clutch pedal no! the left hand...
Okay man or woman turns up to a private buyer, pays 10k for a car with less than a months MOT to go, knowing amongst everything else a 2.5k potential spend, plain silly and as said impossible sale.
I am struggling to see why sellers come on this forum when selling assuming we have no brain?
Wow sorry to hear that Pedro, that’s a fair old spend, but if you love the car then man maths kick in.
I had missed the expiry of the MOT until it was highlighted, this for me makes it an impossible sell at the asking price.
That for me is a 5-6k car sadly especially with that mileage.
I would stay with the good years, a Michelin would be a good alternative though.
Wouldn‘t worry with the R for classic status, guaranteed for a good one in my opinion!
The R going forward is going to appreciate regardless of a small thing like disc, there is a market for these cars now amongst collectors for a good one, fact is there won’t be enough to go around to meet demand in the coming years.
Mine went to a collector who has kept in touch.
Lock up your R...
A good R will always sell, my experience through selling on a major platform has been a nightmare, a combination of dreamers, test pilots and chancers.
My car sold to a very very nice gentleman from the south who turned out to be a real car enthusiast who did not care to haggle when he saw the...
Yeah surprised with the orange one, probably a trade in against it to move it on, the white one with the poor wheels just awful.
Yes it will be a couple of weeks with mine yet, just waiting for the MOT and service to be done, then onto the next stage.
Maybe the price is to high for the miles, or could it just be a bad car and people are backing out because of that, or maybe people just think an R is not worth anywhere near 10k anymore.
I am not one of those people.
Not a lot of interest, fact is we have a very very good car, we know it’s a buyers market and prices are on the slump, we knew that before putting it up, worse case scenario we will lock up for another year and see what happens next year, the R like any other car will reach a base line and fall...
Yes it seems price is more important than condition, but a bad R can cost quickly if the brakes for example are bad, not to mention other stuff, hence it can make for a poor buy.
Looks like we will have to give ours away at this rate!
It’s also the same with service stamps, how many people have a service receipt to match the stamp in the book, very rare these days, to many people with fake stamps.
