I think personally it’s better to buy private, that way you get to meet the owner and that gives you a better chance to look at what has been done.
Most if not all cars being sold by dealers will at least need the brakes doing amongst other things, it’s easier for someone who doesn’t want to...
At last the voice of reason Flanners, was beginning to think you had left the fold.
Seriously though, there is not one single R for sale at the moment where all the real issues associated with a performance car are addressed and prove of essential maintenance done, which is why they are cheap...
As is with any car Kerr, buyers market at the moment.
I do wonder where all the 200 and odd owners are though with the R, not on here.
I would love to be proved wrong.
4k is nothing if you want to own a performance car, the R is in the same bracket as any beamer with a M badge or anything RS from Audi etc.
These cars are cheap in comparison to the above due to badge snobbery, but they won’t be in the future.
The R is a great car but you need deep pockets to...
I will get shot for saying this, but the bracket you are spending in you would be better with a TTs, yes it will be older but it will do all the daily stuff so much better given the state of the roads in the UK, and you will have similar performance to an R.
There is a guy on here from Germany...
Wow! They have gone up! great brakes though and worth every penny in my opinion.
I do think though the design of the original disc offers better cooling than something with bells.
Budget at least £800 for a pair of disc, 2k for callipers unless you can refurbish, they seize period due the pistons being chrome plated, my calliper’s were done under the extended warranty with Peugeot, not disc though.
The calliper situation amongst other things can quickly make you fall out...
Full service history essential, don’t consider without, also ensure front disc and callipers are absolutely tip top, callipers seize inboard so check the surface of the disc to confirm.
Wheels also need to be factory finish as you only get a couple of shots generally at diamond cutting, finally...
Personally I would run a mile, it is described as having a custom exhaust with upgraded re circulation valve, also seems the suspension has been upgraded to Bilstein.
All that would cost a small fortune to put back, can’t think of anything worse than a modified R, it’s the only car I have ever...
That makes total sense now, I actually wanted to get a look under there but it looks a pig to remove as you say, cant see how it can be removed without bumper removal as it simply wouldn't lift upwards.
Am thinking of trying to improve the insulation rather than to try and go down the warranty...
Ah, so are you saying the coating is on the underside of the heat shield Flanners?
I am always looking at R’s, I enjoy looking at the various imperfections with them, wheels and brakes are always top and usually the reason why people sell I guess. The one on eBay is on AT and is the one with...
I am not sure, but I thought the turbo was wrapped under the chrome shield, which is missing on this one from the factory, I believe the factory insulation breaks down and produces the pink dust.
I am sure someone will be along who knows how things should be under the shield, but that turbo...
Could this be the answer to rid of the pink dust on the R? Interesting modification on a R that is currently for sale amongst other things. I think not!
Never understood why people remap, yes you could argue manufacturers maps are tuned more for economy and not to stress the engine etc, but by the time you have factored in mods and the price of the remap you may as well just buy a faster car.
For a daily, I would have the diesel, great engine and bullet proof, yes it doesn’t meet ULEZ but unless you live in London no problem in my opinion.
Everyone speculating about tax increase's etc think we are a long way of that yet, no one knows really how it’s going to go.
I don’t care about...
