One of my 407s did something like that. It would sometimes start fine, other times start, run for 5 seconds and then stop. It was the starter motor. Could be something to check.

The auto is 156 only. As far as I know it's a torque converter auto, so not like the DSG. I'm not sure if it's a PSA box or like some other Peugeots, an Aisin Warner gearbox. Actually, I just read it could be a Porsche gearbox.

Built in systems interface. It handles all sorts of functions in the vehicle. They can periodically get their knickers in a twist.
