My R does not have the NG 4 or the JBL. My previous 156 GT did. I think the JBL is worth finding or retro fitting as the quality of sound is improved. My systems blue tooth also has an increasead latency between changing tracks from my phone.. That said, it appears much slower on the USB as...
So, I have had my R for a month now.
I have managed to put just over 1200 Miles on it and in that time I have made a few observations.
The observations are my opinion and are not meant to be "A guide to an RCZ R"
The observations are made against a black silver arched 156 GT on 19 inch wheels...
I had my Chain changed at 67000 ish miles. Everything that happened after that change I have listed under " Frustration.....Engine management light and "Limp" mode " on the General Technical topic.
Luckily for me I had the car from a main dealer with extended warranty. How my PEUGEOT dealer...
I have let my 156 GT go , I just loved the RCZ overall experience so I looked for a replacement.
I found a 13500 mile 14 plate mercury grey "R" and jumped on it.
Wow.....what a diference....better ride, seats, umphh.. its a big list...
Nearly bumped it on the drive though. There are no fwd...
With a heavy heart I decided to let my 79500 miles RCZ 156 GT go....
I part exchanged it for...... An RCZ R......
So the posts ref problems with RCZs stop here...
So..
This time I have a coil pack gone.
It will explain the symptoms......
Just will not stop that ever sinking feeling that it will fail again.
130 pounds to reset the code, buy and fit the item. They are 25 quid plus VAT to buy on their own. I am getting three more and changing them my self..
Guess what...?
Its gone wrong again. Same issue. Exactly the same as last year. I left it on the dealers door step and posted the keys through the door.
Any specialists that can try their hand at the THP in the wiltshire ? I will probably need them.
Time for a change.
For a clonking at low speed, I took mine in to the dealer. They istantly came up with the apparently well known dealer fix solution of lubing the engine mounts. A liberal aplication of a white coloured grease has resulted in a clonk free front end.... There are a few posts on this particular...
The car is back.
The dealer investigated the engine warning lamp being on. Fault code P1337 was found to be stored. This fault relates to: Combustion misfiring on cylinder number 1.
They cleared this fault and carried out engine software recall identified as HEE.
According to the dealer, this...
Took a call from the Pug dealer today, my cars service and engine issue has been resolved. On requesting the cause of my issue the receptionst did not know, I asked her to phone back with the "fix" this time. An hour later the answer was given to me......No fault aparent.! The fault had...
So......
The problem is BACK. I have had trouble free driving with that nigly feeling of this isstarting to "feel" wrong again.
I went to book a routine 2 yearly service and requested that the timing be checked as I thought it was starting to feel rough again. The service booking agent loked at...
I had a horible clunking noise from under the bonnet. The engine mounts were lubricated to look like your original "burnt" mount. This stopped all creaking and clunking. Aparrently it was a service instruction from peugeot... Get yours re greased to prevent creaking in the future..
I had mine changed in a main dealer 12 months ago. Somehow it was fitted incorrectly and it recently let me down.. All the symptoms of a coil pack failure. It was hard to diagnose and took months to finally get back to a badly fitted chain... I think the tensioner was not done up correctly. ...
Anybody tried water decokeing?
Had a look round some mini R56 sites, seems it's effective on the head but it can't get to the back of the valves...They also rave about oil catch tanks and blanking the pcv..Anybody gone down this path?
Anything to get rid of the carbonised oil residue. ..
Just found this pic of my car...
Pugfest is a yearly event that I have attended for the last 10 years.
I normally take my 205 GTI but I had seen the RCZ starting to appear. I decided to take the Z, this year only the 2 of us turned up.. Shame.
It's returned.. The RCZ has come home. The tails of woe will hopefully finish here.
It appears that my timing chain was out of adjustment. ...
Fitted new just over 12 months ago it has managed to drift out of tolerance. . I need to look up how this can happen. But for now..It's all go.
I hope none of you have any of these issues. There really should be a praise area on all forums, it can't be doom and gloom for everybody.. There has to be praise for the Z. It is a cracking non run of the mill car that turns heads every day...I want mine back though please Mr Peugeot...
An update.
The car is still in the dealer. A miss fire on no 1 cylinder was noted. They have swapped 4 to 1 and the fault cleared.... Techie took it out and returned saying it does'not feel right, it is as though it is running rough all the time.. (that's what I thought before it threw a...
Re: Frustration.....Engine light and "Limp" mode. (Update)
So...
Since my last post I have driven the car with a niggling feeling of "this is not right.."
When cold it feels "lumpy".. It does smooth out after time, but it just does not not feel right.
I told the wife I would book it in...
