    Renovating Black Arches.

If you have access to a D.A. it would help. DA combined with cutting compound would give good results much quicker.

    Wing mirror trim replacement

There are sometimes the odd one or two breaking on EBay. Worth a check.

    Beautiful photographs of your RCZ

All ready for its service & MOT in the morning. And the mileage since the last MOT ……. 326 As the saying goes, I really should get out more.

    Advice please

I’ve had my 200GT for almost 10 years now. No major issues other than the usual HPFP & coil packs. I did have a complete clutch assembly done under warranty, but for the last 7 years, no problems at all. Fantastic car.

    Renovating Black Arches.

A second or even third coat will always enhance the results, but if you’re still struggling to cover the dull area, you could always try the rubbing compound as mentioned in post #7 above. Then try the Meguiars again. Don't forget to report the results back to us so other members can benefit...

A shit, poor man's TT, basically.

I actually don’t agree with the looks comment, I much prefer the Z to the TT. I’ve also driven both, & I enjoyed driving the Z far more.

A shit, poor man's TT, basically.

When I first got my RCZ, the guy over the road had a TT. The first comment I got from him was “you’ve never bought an Aldi TT” Strange how 10 years on I’ve still got my RCZ & his TT is long gone.

    Renovating Black Arches.

I do like the carbon roof look. I decided to keep mine as original as possible with just a few tweaks here & there inside. If you like the look of it, go for it. I do think they look good.

Is it best to have arches wrapped or just get new ones. Garage carwash has damaged them

Wrapping is cheaper than buying new. Some members have had theirs wrapped, so I know the results are good if done well. You could also try breakers, unfortunately some of our beautiful cars have now gone to the great garage in the sky, so it’s possible you could get a deal on replacing them...

Is it best to have arches wrapped or just get new ones. Garage carwash has damaged them

Not sure of the cost of wrapping, but I do know that new ones will be very expensive. The moral of this story is NEVER use garage car washes.

    Dodgy timekeeping

How old is the battery? Failing batteries have been known to throw up all kind of weird & wonderful electrical issues. Also, water ingress into the boot lock has also been known to affect other systems in the car.

New RCZ ( new to me )

Welcome 🖖🏻 I bet you will have never owned a car that you want to look at so much before. I’ll have a little side bet that when you park it up, you will look round at least twice every time you walk away from it. 👀🏎️

    timing chain recall

Yes, all the MkI Z’s had the original Timing chain assembly. The upgrade was fitted as standard on the MkII’s and was fitted to any MkI that went in with that fault. I have seen a few MkII’s on here that have had timing chain issues, so it’s not infallible.

    Whine from engine bay.

Also, check your oil level to make sure you have plenty in there

Found this on the driveway under my 2011 rcz1.6

Part of a coil spring. You might need to take a wheel off to see which spring has snapped.

Slight coolant loss/ Temp gauge dropped

You could also try any breakers near you, you might just drop lucky & find one in.

Slight coolant loss/ Temp gauge dropped

Ah, sorry, I read the bit about the coolant level staying at max. It could well be the thermostat that is causing problems, especially if the temp gauge is playing up 🤔
