I just joined to find out more about Peugeot RCZ R, as I have been trying to find one to buy but want to find out any common issues with them which might cost a fortune rectify.
I am a member of the Peugeot Sport Club so am used to driving peugeots having owned several Peugeot205's, 1x 206, 4 x 306's , 1x406 , 1x 307, and a 2008. Now that the kids have grown up I think its time for a fast car again, so hoping that newer fast peugeots are as reliable as old peugeots ;). I still run a fast old peugeot in the form of a genuine peugeot 205 turbo technics :D.

About the only thing that’s going to cost a large sum would be replacing the brakes & discs, unless there are any fault codes. The R is probably the second most reliable of the bunch after the diesel.

I thought the car market would be dead with Coronavirus, but it's the opposite so far. The few RCZ Rs that have come up recently have sold fast. Strong money too.

The front brakes are the big one. You're about £900 for discs from Peugeot. There is limited aftermarket options that I can see. Tarox are over £1000..

Ferrodo DS2500 pads are £185.

You'll then have labour costs on top of that if you're not doing it yourself.

The pistons corrode(mild steel) inside the calipers. Companies do offer stainless kits, but you want to know the calipers aren't too far gone.

Good luck on the search.

How is the search going?

It's been weeks since the last R came up for sale that I've noticed. There is usually a couple, but nothing is coming up.

Have we hit the stage where Rs are being tucked away?

Lets be honest they aren't the most reliable car on the planet but you need to factor in the fact that they are seriously cheap at the moment when compared with equivalent cars , if there are any

Brakes are a nice to have rather than a necessity, you don't need them for corners just stopping at traffic lights .

I saved them well over the last week. Aberdeen to Inverness, Inverness to Fort William, Fort William to Perth and then the long route back to Aberdeen and all the short trips in between.

My near 500 mile average.

Between Fort William and Perth the average was 53mpg. 😃 Traffic was so thick and slow it was a very easy cruise.

My brakes were saved.

Not sure how accurate the mpg figures are on these
Did my 500 mile round trip to the office earlier in the week
53mpg on the way up and 60mpg on the way home
Out of a petrol engine can't be right surely.

Calculate it yourself.
I usually just fill it up till it clicks, use the tank, then fill it up till it clicks again.
I use Fuelly to track my MPG. My 86 is currently averaging about 34 over the +11k miles I've recorded.

There is an equation you can use miles/litres used x 4.5 or something.

Pretty much every car I've had has fibbed on its computer.

A 14 plate R popped up on Autotrader yesterday without any pictures. It's gone today.

It was priced under Autotrader's valuation guide, but one day is fast. Shows there is people actively looking.

What's a good low mile RCZ-R in the UK worth roughly?
In Oz they are about 18,000 to 21,000 UK pounds converted from Aussie dollars.
Bear in mind we only got 32, so super rare.

There is 294 registered here in the UK.

There was a very low mileage car for sale a few months ago. The dealer was asking £20,000. It sold within days. That is the most expensive one I have seen since I bought mine.

It makes little sense, but since Coronavirus has kicked off car prices are going up. I've seen a few good Rs taking a while to sell before this. Anything that has come up recently has sold very fast and the prices are probably £2000 higher than a few months ago.

The recent ones have all been £12,500-15,000 and nothing between dealer and private sale prices.

The one that popped up yesterday was a 2014 car for £11,500 and I'm sure it had 43,000 miles. Only one owner. There was no pictures, but it'll be another one that needs new brakes and the owner had traded it in to avoid the bill. Autotrader's valuation guide had the car £900 below their valuation.

Normally there is usually two or three cars up for sale at any time. There was about three weeks between one coming up now. Any one coming up now is snapped up fast.

The registration plate of that car is R11RCX.

It's only has weeks to go on the 6 month MOT extension.
