Nosey Bot How can that be right? Surely Private means just that? I assumed that "private" meant it was only viewable by sender and recipient.jactac said:In only ask because earlier when I was looking to see who was online, I noticed that a "Bot" was "viewing a private message" :?
Bit of a nosy R2D2 I thought :eusa-think:

However I'm sure that it must be between sender and recipient, cos from recall I'm sure there is something in the site rules about not disclosing comments made in a PM. Let's be honest that would be a pointless rule if pm's were viewable by others.
Are you deliberately tempting me to do another of my "misquotes" with that  I'm tempted, but will resist :helpme:jactac said:They could always ask Mrs H to get on board.
She dont miss a bloody trick

Why can we see a Bot "Reading Private Message" if the Bot cannot access it ?

This forum only allows registered members to see any postings, so those 'Bots' must be registered users to read it.
To get those bot-users out of 'normal' user-statistics the forum software has this users built-in. That's why you see their names, but cannot click on them.
And, you probably guessed it, they are able to access the link to read their own(!) private messages. That's what you noticed.
