Which Karcher?

Ok I want to get my own Karcher but which one to buy, where from and what attachments?

There are loads when I do a Goigle search and I don't want to just buy the cheapest!

I bought the K5.700 and it came with all that was needed, so no need for extras. Where from is not so easy. I got mine off of Amazon. All I would say is that, I thought that it had broken (was frozen up) and thought, Were do I take it for repair/warranty?

I don't know what the models are, but I chose the first one that had a 3 metre hose. The entry level unit only has two metres. Also, the 3 metre unit came with an additional higher pressure head, that I use for the undercarriage/rims, then move back to the lower pressure head for the rest of the car.

Works a treat.

Go for K4 at least. It has much better cleaning power. Look at the Karcher Outlet on line. They are refurbished machines at considerably reduced prices. I got one and it looked brand new and works a treat.

We have that one too Ron. Ours sometimes cuts out, or should I say refuse to start. I reckon there's a faulty valve somewhere. If you take the lance off, you'll find the motor starts fine...then pop the lance back on.....

Thanks RCZ1 will take a proper look later! K4 may be a bit expensive! Just spent 80 quid on a first shopping list from your detailing guide! now need the washer, snow foam etc

Have to be by hand and a hose for now!

Having a flash "black" car us an expensive business! Lol

I have a k2 And with one of the lances it is powerful enough to strip fence panels back to bare wood - how much more power do you need?

Now...I know that there are plenty of people that will disagree with me here but I find Nilfisks to be better value for money. I have owned a Karcher in the past but took it back for a refund after the seals for the hose wore very quickly. I picked up a Nilfisk for a fraction of the cost and it came with a variety of attachments and even a snow foaming lance. Just throwing the suggestion out there.

I have the Nilfisk Centennial Pressure Washer. Similar in price to the K2 but a banjo load more powerful (flow rate of 520 litres per hour and 120 bar pressure as opposed to 360 per hour for the Karcher...pah) and with an absolute plethora of accessories for a range of uses. The Nilfisk also has adjustable pressure...again the Karcher falls way behind in not having this. It also has a hose twice the length. Am I swaying you yet?!?! Karcher are very good at marketing but i wouldn't necessarily say they are the best Check them out on Argos or perhaps Amazon.

Yes Rizz you are I just looked at that one!!! Seems great value! Do you use the snow foam with it? That's really the only reason I want one! RCZ1 has sold me on it!!!

I do indeed and I have only praise for it. Of course...it also depends what you put in it!

I got mine from Amazon but, having just looked online just now, it's very reasonable at Argos too and their click and collect is ace if you have a store close by. Means you can buy it and use it in the same day!!

I've also used my pressure washer to clean my lock block drive, clean the downstairs windows and strip the entire decking at the back of the house before re varnishing it...that was how I justified it to the missus anyhow!! :wink: (Although it's mostly used for cleaning the car...shhhhh! :grin: )

I've never used a Nilfisk but they do seem highly regarded. I've only used Karchers and they have lasted me a long time.

Make sure you get the karcher chassis cleaner attachment for next winter. Fantastic attachment that i wouldn't now be without. Come with an attachment to snow foam and then another to wash it all off. The underside of my RCZ has never looked so clean!

Karcher are good but for me it would be a Nilfisk then a Karcher any day , a lot of UK authorities use Nilfisk due to their robustness, reliability and power :clap:

Far more power, with less water flow through put , I think all models have easy click attachment changing, can use standing water (water butt ect), it's only now that Karcher are grasping this idea, you can even use a sand blasting attachment for removing paint ect .
I've tried most makes over the years but Nilfisk are way out in front in my opinion.

TIP.
If you want to improve cleaning power on any pressure washer use a Votex cleaning lance. :thumbup:
I think Karcher call them Dirt Blaster Lance. Basically the water spins via a small ball bearing in the tip of the lance as it leaves the lance, you cannot adjust the spray, but the spinning causes the water to spin as it hits the ground, so therefor is a quicker more thorough clean. :thumbup:

Jactac, I'm really not sure that your tip of using the Vortex lance is a good one. It's far too powerful for use on a car. It's a wonder you have any paint left on your car. Personally I would stay well clear. You need to be able to adjust the lance.
