OMG Marcus - what have you let yourself in for :?:

I would feel there was something missing if all I had to do was wash it, without having to polish it or wax it.
As for all the other stuff, I do that anyway, so looking after it in that respect wouldn't be a problem however having said that............................ I do like a shiny car

I didn't think the instructions were too bad really , they are mainly things you would do to keep that old school shiney paint youve got in tip top conditon.

I could have put money on the fact you wouldnt be happy with the idea of a car that you cannot wax or polish

If I mention that you cannot do touch ups or local repairs to the paint and therefore if you scratch it you have to repaint the whole panel would you need some of that Michael Jackson anaesthetic stuff :eusa-think:

I couldn't afford the maintenance of your new car Marcus. I was surprised just how shiny a matt paint car actually is.

Best of luck in retaining it's saleability for the duration of your ownership

it would be easier to keep clean with the bag on it. stops you having to clean insects off as soon as they touch the paint

So come on Marcus,
what does that little bundle cost ?

I'd like to see the products more closely if that's possible Marcus?

I'm not sure about the chamois leather by the way. A big no no I think. Even if it's only for doing the windows, you can't help but catch the paintwork and a chamois on paint :ugeek:

I'm still curious as to why you can't wax it even though one of the biggest wax producers, Swissvax, have made a wax specifically for matt paints. It doesn't give a shine and will give good protection to the paintwork from the elements, UVs, etc.

Jassy, if you are paying nigh on 30k for a car, that you can't polish or wax, you of all people should be worried about the state it would be in, a year or 2 down the line. The Asphalt is not for me I'm afraid, not just because you can't do much with it to maintain it, I just don't like matt paints. But that's what makes us all individuals I guess

I will get some info off the products for you tomorrow.

The Swissvax must be Swissvax Opaque....£55 quid for a 50ml tub Or £160 for the big tub

yes i agree with the durabilty issue ?the matt/satin finish is the latest fad,5 years ago white paint came back on the scene and is probably the popular colour sold since then as you know i have opal fruit white  but i do miss my red cars badly i done all my car on friday with autoglym hi-def wax great results beaded far better than the crap g3 i was using(lack of funds) but white dont cut in it wet-look dept.but dont show the swirls either

but the satin finish may come on main stream for rcz and i for one would love it

It is harder to get a wet look with white, but it can be achieved. I agree with you on red paint though. My last car was red and the wax finish was amazing. Such depth, clarity and warmth was easily achieved. I personally don't think you can beat a nicely waxed red car  I still love my Pearl though :D

The focus rs 500 isn't a matt paint , it's a 3m matt vinyl wrap over panther black metallic , it can be peeled off if you want.
