Has anyone noticed their washer bottle leaks down to the level where the filler tube joins the bottle?

It might not be something you would normally notice as once filled to the brim, you would probably use the washers before you next checked the level.

The other day, I was travelling to York, so checked all my levels prior to setting off. That day I didn't use the washers at all. The next day, I wanted to give the car a good clean, and when I opened the bonnet to clean underneath, I noticed I couldn't see the washer fluid level. I had used additive which was blue, so the level was easy to see. I filled the bottle again back up to the brim. The amount it took was probably just enough to fill the filler tube.

The next day, not having used any again, I checked, and again the level could not be seen. I filled it again, and it took more or less the same amount.

There is often liquid on the driveway after driving, but I had thought it was probably just from the aircon condenser.

The last car I had, a Megane CC had exactly this problem, and the garage said it was where the corrugated tube went into the bottle body. They fitted a new bottle and tube complete foc under warranty, but it did exactly the same thing, so I just gave up, as it wasn't really all that important, and I couldn't be bothered to lose the car for yet another day.

As my car will be going in for its second service next week, I thought I would ask if anyone else had noticed this, as if it's a common thing, I won't bother mentioning it as I think it's likely to be a difficult fix due to the location of the bottle, they will no doubt have to order parts in, so that will be another day without the car, and another trip where I have to organise lifts, and it isn't really all that important in the big scheme of things :eusa-think:

Washer fluid ? What's that? I very very very rarely use my washer fluid. In fact I've yet to use any on my R !

Yes, I realise it's not exactly PC when it comes to sparkly cars, but, my Z lives on my driveway under a Silver Birch in next doors garden. At best, I get about 10 minutes after a wash before you can see sap settling all over it, including the screen (depending on wind direction). Sometimes, even with screen protector applied, it takes a bit more than water to scrape it off.

It's a toss up between a car cover or a chain saw. Not sure next door would be happy with my choice :eusa-whistle:

So, quite some time on since my original post, I thought I had updated this thread, but I may have posted elsewhere & just can't find it.

The car went in, & eventually a leaking pipe to the headlamp washers was found. Part ordered & replaced.

Yesterday, I filled the washer bottle up with some nice new berry flavour stuff from Halfords (2 for 1 at the moment - bargain  ).

Immediately afterwards from the opposite side of the front, I spotted water almost running out of the car onto my (newly refurbished) drive. A quick sniff confirmed berry scent, so it's off back to those lovely competent helpful people at Evans Halshaw Wakefield on Monday.

Let's see what mess they can make this time :brickwall:

So, a bit of a weird one really. Apparently exactly the same part has failed on the near side that failed on the offside earlier. They have ordered it & it's going back in next week. :sleeping-yellow:

I asked if this was a common fault with the RCZ that had Xenons, and they said it was the first (& presumably second) time they had ever come across it :wtf:

Very odd

(Unless this is another one of those "timing chain? No never heard of that Fault before" things :eusa-whistle: )

I've not experienced it - across 2 cars with Xenons - nor has anyone I know with a Z.

I've got a dim recollection of a previous post from someone with a washer bottle issue, but it was quite a while back.

If you haven't already done so, you might care to search the forum - I'm sure you can do that just as well as me! - and see what you can turf up.

I've bumped into a light post several years ago, which was repaired including replacement of the complete driver side xenon unit.
Now last year, I got the same leakage issue of this topic, and it turned out they had just fixed the pressure hose by wrapping it rather than simply replace it.
They have now replaced it and all is fine again.
Problem is that the hose can't be ordered separately so I think the cost of the parts was about EUR. 100.

Fortunately, mine is still covered by the warranty so it isn't costing me anything  3 years up in September, though, & I haven't taken out an extended warranty. :eusa-think:

Can you take one out with Peugeot anytime up to the 3 years manufacturers standard warranty running out ? Depending on the cost, I think it might be a wise move :eusa-think:

Don't really fancy one of the hit & miss third party thingies you can get online.

I've had the renewal invite and am going to go for it (£269) per year plus AA cover (£30) plus £20 upgrade to get punctures and other non car related covered eg keys etc.
